Artemis

You never know how life will turn out. It throws so many curveballs, so many puzzles, it's hard to keep up. Life turns in many ways, sometimes even for the best. I've been on the team of young heroes for more than two years, even met someone I believe I can spend the rest of my life with.

I've learned to deal with the pains of life. My father is Sportsmaster, a criminal. My Mother is Huntress, a Ex-Con. My Sister is Cheshire, an assassin. I'm not someone who can be knocked down easily, and it's all because of them.

I'm not someone to mess with either. I'm a hero, I save people, and take down the evil that threatens humanity. It's who I am. It's my destiny.

"Artemis?" A masculine voice called out, "Babe, where are you?" That's when I caught sight of Wally West. My boyfriend, my partner, and my speedster. I don't know if I'd be here if I didn't have him with me. I'll admit it, he's my everything. If I lost him, I don't know what I'd do.

"Over here," I said as he walked in the room.

"What are you doing?" He asked, sitting down on the couch next to me.

"Just thinking."

"About me?" He asked, while giving a goofy lopsided grin. He then proceeded to wrap his arm around my waist, and pull me closer to him.

"Kinda," I replied, looking up at him. "Anyways, how was school?"

"You mean hell? It was, uh, okay." Wally replied, "How was your day at Gotham Academy?"

"You know, the usual. Surrounded by rich spoiled children." I responded, "Except for Dick, he isn't one of the spoiled idiots."

Wally laughed, "Spoiled idiots? That's a new word."

"Just came up with it, impressed?" I smirked, and he planted a kiss on my lips.

"I'm always impressed with you Babe."

That made me brush, slightly. That was enough for him to smirk at his victory. "Did I make you...flustered?" He said, while wiggling his eyebrows.

That's when I punched his shoulder.

"OW! Abuse! Abuse!" He yelled, over dramatically. I put my hand over his mouth, and gave him a death glare.

He continued to flail around like he was some fish out of water. I finally took my hand off his mouth, and once I did that the ginger shut up and sat still. "I thought you'd be a dying fish forever." I said.

"Hey, sometimes you need to act like a dying fish to get your way."

"You didn't accomplish anything during that time Wally!"

"Yeah I did. I don't have your hand on my mouth anymore. Did you know I actually need my mouth to speak?" The speedster stated, sarcastically.

"No? Really?" I said back, in the same tone.

"I know, it's a big shocker." Wally said, smiling at his ridiculousness.

I gave him a smile back, and slowly got up from the couch. "Alright, up we go. The team needs us to report to the cave."

Wally pouted, "Can't they wait?"

"No."

The ginger groaned, getting up also. "Can I atleast have a kiss?"

I rolled my eyes, giving him a quick peck. "Okay, now let's go!"

We lined up with the rest of the team, all of us prepared for anything. The Team has grown alot. Dick was now Nightwing, gaining his own identity. The other members all growing and learning more fighting tricks.

Aqualad stood at the front, assigning missions. He looked straight at Wally and I, "Kid Flash and Artemis, you'll accompany Miss M and Superboy. The four of you will investigate strange behavior in the west side of Keystone."

The four of us nodded, "Alright, then go pack up and report back." Aqualad informed.

That's what we all did, I can tell you the tension wasn't amazing. I'm pretty sure M'gann and Conner weren't on the best of terms. I looked over at Wally, and he just shrugged.

We all managed to get ourselves in the bio-ship and in the air. "Setting up telepathic communications now." The martian informed, as she linked us all up.

"Does anyone know about this suspicious behavior? I live in Keystone, I haven't seen nothing..." Wally asked. Yeah, we were both almost done with Senior year of high school. After that, we planned to move in together. Even go to college, never thought I'd do that.

"Maybe they don't want to be found." Connor growled, crossing his arms. M'gann sighed, and I could just tell the awkwardness was growing.

"We'll figure it out," I said, staring out the window.

Once we reached Keystone, we went to figure out this mystery. I grabbed my bow, and the others were making a plan, and after that we all headed out.

Days Later

I believed that mission was going to be easy, and I was actually glad we were assigned it.

But now I wish we never got assigned that damn mission. I didn't know what it would cause, and how it would make all of our lives a horrible wreck.
