Two months after...

Malia's P.O.V.

We were at home watching a movie with the kids when someone knocked on the door.

"I'll get it."-Stiles

He got up from the sofa and went to answer the door.

It was Scott.

"Hey, Scott. Is everything okay?"-Stiles

He had the worried expression all over his face.

"Actually no."

"Come in."

Stiles said worried.

"Hey, kids. Hi, Malia."

The kids went and hugged him.

"Hi, uncle Scott."

They said together.

"Hey, Scott."-Malia

"So..."-Stiles

"Have you ever heard of regression to the mean?"-Scott

"No, I don't think so."-Stiles

I shook my head, denying.

"It's basically a way of saying that life can't ever be all bad or all good. You know, eventually things have to come back to the middle. So, think about the last few months. Things were difficult but we always had a happy ending... so, basically things were good. But not amazing."

"Yeah, but no one's tried to kill us in three months either."

"Right. We've been pretty much in the midlle for a while. Which means, at some point, the scale has to tip one way or the other. Things are gonna get really good again..."]

"Or really bad."-Stiles

We heard a thunder outside.

At the Police Station

Narrator's P.O.V.

"Yes, ma'am, we're having trouble with the power as well. It's most likely related to the storm."

A lot of phones were ringing.

"Parrish! Check the backup generator and make sure it's fueled. And Parrish... answer the phone!"-Noah Stilinski

"Three months. Three months of directing traffic, doing courthouse security, serving subpoenas, and today I finished a total organizational overhaul of evidence lock-up. Now I'm stuck behind the front desk while there's downed power-lines, a jackknifed tractor-trailer and reports of gunshots downtown. I don't know what I did to lose your trust, but you need every available deputy out there."-Parrish

"Okay, I got something for you."

Noah handed a file to Parrish.

"A noise complaint?"

"Yeah. Somebody made a noise. Somebody else complained about it. Check it out."

The storm was getting worse, but Parrish went to check it out.

The noise was coming from an abandoned house.

He entered it and searched.

Finally the noise was heard.

It was coming from behind a wall, like something was trying to break out.

"I'll get you out of there, okay?"

He got something to break the wall.

"Back up if you can!"

And he started breaking it, until a black liquid started coming off of the wall.
