Everyone started talking all at once when they arrived back at their training arena, shouting mainly due to panic.
"What are we supposed to do?" Gunner started pacing around, eyes wide.
"Are Bryan and Chad really dead?" Connor wondered aloud, frowning in confusion.
"What's going to happen tomorrow?" J-Fred whispered nervously, running a hand through his hair.
Kevin was the only person silent, staring down at his shoes as tears silently trailed down his cheeks.
"Everyone calm down!" Matt yelled over everyone, pushing aside his own panic to console his friends.
Everyone fell silent, looking at him with defeat and hopelessness shining in their eyes.
"I miss Chad and Bryan too-"
"Really? You've been completely calm the entire time!" Kevin snapped, glaring at him.
"That's not true!" Matt argued defensively.
"Bryan is dead, I'll never be able to see him again!" Kevin continued softly, voice thick with emotion.
"Te veré pronto Bryancito." Kevin whispered shakily, holding the gun up to his own head and pulling the trigger.
Everyone began panicking again as Paul caught Kevin's body before he hit the floor, gently laying him down.
"Oh my god oh my god oh my god," Connie chanted as he began pacing like Gunner, unable to tear his gaze away from Kevin.
Matt opened his mouth to say something comforting, but he was paralyzed. He didn't know how he could calm his friends if he couldn't calm himself. His mind was whirling with various thoughts, the most prominent one being what was going to happen next.
"What did he even say?" Paul wondered.
"I will see you soon Bryancito." Gunner echoed numbly.
The group was startled when they heard Kevin groan, rubbing his head as he sat up with a wince.
"Kevin!" Everyone swarmed around Kevin, making him slightly uncomfortable.
"I forgot those guns only stun you when you shoot them at teammates, or yourself apparently." Kevin grumbled as he allowed J-Fred to help him up.
"I'm glad it does." Connor admitted.
Everyone fell silent, unsure of what to say next.
"I guess we should go ahead and get some sleep." Matt advised, speaking slowly as if unsure if suggesting to sleep was a good idea.
"I second that." Paul chimed in.
Since there were no beds, each person found a place on the carpet to sleep on. Even though they were all tired, none of them were able to sleep.
"Get up, it's time for your next challenge." The referee appeared in the middle of the room, startling them.
Once everyone was standing, they were once again taken to the challenge arena. This time, there was a table in the center of the room with a gun lying on top of it, a digital wheel behind it.
They could all tell what they would be playing next.
Roulette.
The other teams were already standing in a circle around the table, waiting impatiently for Battle Universe to join them.
The group reluctantly stepped up, tensing as the referee moved to stand by the wheel.
"As some of you may already know, this challenge is called Roulette. You spin the wheel, and whatever it lands on, happens. Arms first, then legs, then heads. On the wheel is Regenerate, Eliminate Your Enemy, Get shot by the person to your right, shoot the person to your left, and Free For All. Two teams that survive win this challenge." The referee explained.
"Begin." The referee gestured for Gunner to go first. He spun the wheel, wincing when the wheel made a loud beeping noise before quieting once it stopped on a section of the wheel.
Eliminate Your Enemy. Gunner was lucky.
He aimed for a Glabadon's head since there was less of them, not hesitating before he pulled the trigger.
The Glabadon didn't even have time to cry out as it crumpled to the floor, the black suited men quickly taking his body away. Its team gurgled in protest before the referee silenced them.
Paul was next, crossing his fingers as he spun the wheel.
Free For All.
Connor managed to fend off the other teams and take the gun, shooting a different Glabadon in the arm since he knew he couldn't kill it yet. That, and he did t want to have both teams be against them.
The Glabadon hissed as it glared at Connor, making angry sounds that he didn't understand. He had an idea of what it was saying.
Unfortunately, the Glabadons were next.
Shoot the person to your left. One of its teammates.
The Glabadon clicked something to the teammate it was about to shoot before shooting them in the arm.
As the round continued, thankfully Battle Universe were safe with the Florps siding them in eliminating the Glabadons.
Until J-Fred's turn. His spin landed on Free For All. The last uninjured Glabadon took the gun, preparing to fire at J-Fred.
Instinctively, since Matt was standing beside him, he pushed him out of the way just in time as the laser burned through his chest.
He wheezed in pain as he collapsed to the floor, black dots dancing in his vision as he looked up at J-Fred.
He could see him mouthing a prayer to him, his eyes filled with sadness.
"Peace." Matt chuckled weakly, the chuckle quickly turning into a cough before the black dots fully encompassed his vision.
The round ended quickly after that since the Florps killed the last of the Glabadons with the help of Battle Universe.
J-Fred watched silently as his brother's body was taken away, too shocked to even cry. He had seen so much death in only a couple of days, he wasn't sure how much more he could handle.
"Well that ended rather quickly." The referee chuckled.
"Have fun training the rest of the day for your final challenge tomorrow." The referee once again sent the two teams back to their training arenas.
