An intro

Ok, so I have no idea if anyone is even interested in Na'vi anymore. I just know that I am and I'll leave this here in case someone ever need it :)

Na'vi is a fictional language, of sorts, it has the means of grammar and vocabulary to be classed as a 'real' language since one can learn and use it.

I would really recommend checking out Karyu Pawl (meaning Teacher Paul - the awesome dude who  created and teaches it to the world) on YouTube. There he has a bunch of lessons in how to pronounce, spell and get your grammar straight.

You can find part 1 of Na'vi 101 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goxi2Vejrks

One should know that there is not a word in Na'vi for every word of English, since Na'vi is still a work in progress. But there is most certainly enough to get started and advance.

I will now show an example of how I could introduce myself:

Kaltxì,

ma smukan sì smuke.*

Oel ngati kameie.

Oeru syaw fko Ansit.

Smon nìprrte'.  **

Fteria oel lì'fyati leNa'vi, slä mi ke tsängun pivlltxe na hufwe.

Translated:

'Hello,

my brothers and sisters. *

I see you.

I am called Ansit.

(my nickname, S, in Na'vi)

Nice to know you.**

I'm studying Na'vi, but I'm afraid I still can't speak it fluently.'

-------------........------------

*"smukan" and "smuke" can, according to Karyu Pawl (teacher Paul), also be spelled "tsmukan" and "tsmuke".

**Smon nìprrte' is more than simply "Nice to meet you" it's almost as deep and basically spiritual as Oel ngati kameie.

-------- Here are a few phrases I really like; --------

Somwewä tì'ul a ka 'Rrta säpenghrr lu awngaru nìwotx.

'Global warming is a warning to us all.'

Proverb:

Koakturi kewanti keyìl ke wan.

'An old person's face doesn't hide their age.'

That is, some things can't be covered up.

When it comes to learning a new language:

Ke zene win säpivi.

'Ivong nìk'ong.

Take your time; don't rush.

Slow is fine.

----------////////-----------

Hayalovay, ma smukan sì smuke!

Until next time, my brothers and sisters!

PS.

The phrase "ma smukan sì smuke" can be shortened to "ma smuk" which means 'sibling', or "ma frapo" meaning 'everyone'.
