Alfred yawned as he flopped in bed after a long world meeting that had seemed to never end. His hand slowly grabbed at his phone and checked the time, groaning in annoyance that he'd have to get up again soon. At least the thing he had to do was something he wanted to do.
"Whelp, let's get going," Alfred sighed out as he threw himself out of bed.
He rifled through his closet for his uniform, huffing and puffing his cheeks out to show his unhappiness. A noise of success left him once he found his uniform and he threw off his clothes that he wore to the meeting. It hit him that he really needed caffeine, and something besides fast food to eat.
"Perfect! Now, what to eat?"
His eyebrows crinkled together in thought before he shrugged and went to search his kitchen. It was ultimately decided that he would have eggs, and with that decided he excitedly hopped into cooking food.
Soon enough, he had finished and was eating at the table, still in his underwear from having gotten undressed. The prospect of food had distracted him too much. He practically inhaled his breakfast before finally going to dress himself, darting around and pulling his clothes onto his person.
"Ahhh.. I'm going to be late," Alfred whined this out with a pout, looking at the time with a squint to see without his glasses.
The minute he finished dressing, he grabbed his things and ran out the door to his workplace, which happened to be an airfield where he could fly around in an airplane. He liked the days when he could be a trick pilot for fairs, but this didn't seem to be one of those days. It was more than likely training exercises and thinking up ways to improve the airplanes that they possessed.
That would be a more boring day, but he loved the airplanes enough to be enthusiastic and happy all throughout this workday. It was mentally rewarding for him, he didn't get paid all that much, but he didn't mind that at all. Being a nation makes it easier to handle money efficiently. Somehow he reached the airfield on time and took a nice, deep breath of the air around. The engine fuel and other mechanical smells made him feel relaxed and even more joyous than his usual amount. As soon as he set foot in the main building, someone came to greet him. This was the nice thing, here, nobody knew he was a nation, so they didn't yell at him for being childish or anything like that.
"Hey bud! How are you today?" Alfred spoke with a bright smile, super excited to be at work that day.
This was because the meeting he had been at was taxing and exhausting, so he needed some fun to feel better.
"I'm doing well, and yourself?" His co-worker smiled and clapped Alfred on the shoulder, not expecting any stumbling from the guy.
"Wonderful! I'm doing great!" Alfred's smile got wider and he looked around, "So, what is on the agenda today?"
"Some tune-ups are really it, but I know you like those." His co-worker chuckled and went to his office, expecting and knowing that Alfred would follow.
After a loud noise of excitement, he followed after his friend excitedly, bouncing along behind him. He noticed the airplane hanger and was tempted to go find his, but didn't want to get yelled at by people who worked here. He was much more inclined to be good for people doing something he liked, and not politics.
Turned out that they had a quick meeting to go to before the could go do their work, although these meetings were usually successes and more fun. The meeting was really quick too, it just was to tell everyone about what they needed to be doing that day and why. The management had noticed that the planes weren't flying as well, so they'd called for an all around tuneup day. Most were okay with that, besides the ones who were afraid of hurting themselves on the plane.
After being released, Alfred darted to go get his things from his office. He ended up being the first to the hanger and looked for his plane in the normal spot. Excitedly, he bounced over to it and climbed up to the cockpit, opening it and sitting inside for a minute to appease himself. His tool box lay on the ground for the moment, but soon he got out and grabbed it to start working on the repairs and tuneup. He focused in on the task at hand for hours, only being snapped out of it when he felt a hand touch his shoulder.
"Alfred, you've been working for four hours non-stop, you okay there?" His coworker playfully asked with a chuckle and a raised eyebrow.
A laugh left Alfred upon hearing his friend's question.
"I'm perfect! This is so much fun. How could I not continue like that?"
A nod answered his own question and a hand ruffled his hair. His friend walked away, leaving Alfred to continue what he was doing. Pretty soon though, Alfred had finished and very excitedly went to ask if he could fly. The answering yes left him almost jumping with joy and he suited up immediately.
With as much care as possible, he drove onto the runway and took off, flying around for an hour or so before landing. He'd been appeased in his need to fly for the day, and also knew that he shouldn't waste too much fuel.
In his opinion, his plane was the best and most beautiful piece of machinery to exist, and that opinion would persist for forever. He'd worked ever so hard to create the best plane possible, and he'd succeeded in his opinion at least.
One of the managers of the airfield came up to him as he got out of the cockpit of the plane, clearing her throat to get Alfred's attention.
"Yes? Ya need something?" Alfred's voice was even more light and happy than before because of his flight.
"Yes, I do. We'd like to offer you the opportunity to fly in a show this week, your skills in tricks are incredible," The manager complimented him with a light voice, smiling at him.
"Really!? I'd love to! Thank you so much! When is it!?"
"It is three days from now, the tricks that need to be done will be sent in an email. You may add anything that you like as long as it's within parameters and regulations."
The manager gave Alfred a bright smile and began to walk away, having other things to do. Alfred stopped her with a hug and a handshake.
"Thank you for this opportunity ma'am! I appreciate it a lot!"
Alfred looked to be ecstatic, making it obvious that he loved shows and that he was incredibly excited. His love for his job was also obvious, and the manager noticed.
"You're welcome. We'll consider you for these more often since you are the most enthusiastic about these things," The manager chuckled this out, "I must be going back to work, I hope to speak to you again some time."
Alfred nodded and smiled brightly at the manager, "Oh, thank you! What's your name? I'd like to know."
The manager hummed curiously and spoke lightly, "Dominica, why?"
A shrug answered the question first, "Just curious, I like knowing names."
"Oh, okay. I've got to get going, I'll speak to you another day. Goodbye."
"Goodbye! Have a nice day!"
Alfred went to his office for a while to check out if he had any paperwork to do. Finding some, he sat down to do it with a pout. The end of his workday came swiftly, and he went home excited for the show that he would get to help with.
~Time skip to show~
On the day of the show, Alfred raced out of the meeting room and got himself to work, preparing his plane for his favorite type of event. Looking around, he noticed a couple people in the hanger with him.
"Oh, they must be doing a show too!"
Alfred smiled and moved on, cleaning his plane and checking everything before before heading out. His excitement showed with the bounce he took as he jumped up into the cockpit. He threw on his helmet and went to the show, landing and getting out where he was supposed to.
He greeted all the children at his feet excitedly, answering their questions as best as he could.
"So, you guys came to see the show today, huh?"
Many nods answered his question, and happy giggles.
"Great! I'm flying in it! You'll get you see me up in the air!"
Alfred smiled as the excitement rose within all the kids and the spoke rapidly to him. Soon, he got them settled and patted them each on the head.
"I know you're excited, I am too, but your mommies and daddies would not appreciate me getting you hyper. You guys understand." Nods once again answer. "Great! Thanks guys, I appreciate it!"
He smiled and nudged them back to their parents to be able to start the show. As soon as they all left, he hopped into the cockpit and started it up, waiting for his queue to take off and start the show. The signal came and he took off, laughing gleefully as he did tricks through the air.
The best part about this though was the looks on everyone's faces when he looked down after doing a really risky looking trick. Their faces were filled with shock, surprise, and awe. It made him very happy to see that his audience was enjoying themselves and that he was able to make the people of his country happy. After about 20 minutes of tricks, he finished and landed, talking to all of the little kids again. He smiled and excitedly answered each of them, patting some of them that were close to him on their heads. He took off his helmet and set it on one of them happily. The kid squealed happily and played with the helmet, moving all of its able to be moved parts and looking over it.
"It's so cool!"
Loud noises of agreement followed this excited statement as the helmet was given back to Alfred. He smiled at each of them and talked to them for a while longer before needing to go talk to an official of the event.
"Thank you for flying here today, everyone loved your performance!" The official smiled joyfully at Alfred, shaking his hand.
"Anytime! I had a lot of fun!" Alfred smiled very brightly at the official.
"We'd love to have you anytime. The kids love ya."
Alfred made a noise of agreement and checked the time, wincing slightly.
"I gotta go, I have a meeting that I should be at, but here's my number so you can contact me about other events."
The number was quickly written down and handed off before he went back to the hanger in his plane, quickly cleaning the plane. He darted home to get ready for a meeting with the nations. His eye twitched from having to go to one of those unbearably boring meetings where he couldn't do anything without getting yelled at. At least he has Ivan and Arthur to mess with the whole time, but even that got super boring.
He wished that he could just be a pilot instead of a nation, being a nation was boring. He shrugged off those thoughts and searched for his normal meeting attire in the accumulating mess that was his room. There hadn't been time to clean it lately with how much he had to. His room could be messier, but if Arthur ever saw it he'd have a heart attack.
With that thought in mind, he snickered and smirked playfully, continuing his mission of getting dressed for the day.
It took considerable effort, but he forced himself out the front door and to the meeting, grabbing all of his papers on the way out. He arrived at the meeting as extravagantly as usual, sitting in his seat and immediately chattering away. The fun from the day giving him even more energy than usual. Everyone soon arrived and the boring meeting started, leaving him to wish that he was a pilot once again.
