Jen softly pressed harder on the gas petal, excitement in her eyes. Suddenly her phone rang, and she reached out to grab it in a fast jagged motion.

"Hello, dad?" *Pause* "Yes, of course I'm on my way to the hospital" *Pause* "And you're sure she's due today?" *Pause, followed by an impossibly loud shriek* "I can't believe I'm going to be a sister!! I'm so happy! Is mom doing okay?" *Pause* " Good to hear! I'm gonna hang up now ok? I want to be there for mom as soon as possible! Okay... Bye!"

Just for a second... She glanced down...

Just to put her phone away... And keep driving...

Only to receive... A sudden lurch...... A.. burning pain....... Lots of red.... Black............ White.......

A cut, busted body.... Another drivers tears.......... Lights....... Sirens............

How ironic to die in the same hospital your sister is being born in.

Two months later, Mattius and Sierra Browne drive down an old windy road, on a visit to Sierra's mother. The couple wanted to old woman to meet her new granddaughter after having such a hard time at Jen's funeral. The two had always connected so well. Sierra wanted her to meet Amelie, who couldn't attend the funeral on account of being a newborn child.

"I'm glad we're doing this Matt. I hope mom will love Amelie just as much as she loved Jen."

"Don't worry, it'll be fine."

Mattius tended to say things were fine when he knew they weren't.

"Seriously, you're using that line again? Our daughter is DEAD!! And you just think that things will just be FINE?! I mean-"

"Aw shit, LOOK OUT!" Suddenly the car swerved, as an oncoming driver rammed into the very back of the car. Had Mattius not jerked the car away, the whole rest of the family would have been killed.

The car, shaken from the crashed, violently tipped over.

"Sierra! Amelie!"

"Matt!"

*The sound of a baby crying*

"Thank God your alri-"

Something blunt hit Matt hard on the head, and everything faded, as he tried to crawl towards his baby, who was being circled by a strange figure, and his wife, who looked scared and helpless.

Damn cars....
