Helpless or helpful

I leave the building without any problem. When I get out is when I find some level of difficulty. A hundred or so knights blocking my path. "Ugh! Really James!! Knights!" Before they charge to grab me, James comes up behind of me and lifts me of my feet! Literally!

Once again I wake up in his house, from his knock out! Is this just going to become a regular thing now? As I take a look around I see I'm in the same room. Ugh, nothing new. Except that I'm strapped to the bed! One last look around the room and I see it's, different? The room has a purplish glow, less decor, different patterns on the wall, and no James stalking over me. "Serves him right to stay away." Then I notice something else, someone's on the other side of the room. "Who's there? Are you awake? Are you James? What are you here for?" But I never got complete answers. Jay steps out of the other room and answers a few like "Someone is. No, they're asleep. No, not me." Oh and my favorite one he told me was, "You don't need to know" and left me strapped to the bed. The strange bit was he left walking through the wall? Me and whoever that is are being observed. Why? No matter now. I burn through the straps, wake up the other girl, and we walk out. Not only out of the room, but out of the house. No commotion. While we, peacefully, walk away, we get talking.

"So what's your name?"

"Scarlet."

"Why were you there?"

"Found in the forest while running. Got caught."

"Why were you running? "

"To get away."

"Did you meet the man incharge?"

"No, did you?"

"Yes."

"What was his name? "

"Well look the tables have turned, huh. And his name was James."

"Was?"

"Yes."

"What's it now?"

"Don't know anymore don't care anymore. And you shouldn't either, Scarlet..."

"What did he want with you?"

"Don't know. What 'bout you?"

"Don't know. How'd he get you?"

So, I told her everything, from not wanting to go, to now. "Wow. Busy week?" More like busy year. "Ya." With that we walked in silence.

By nightfall we had a nice little camp going. And with neither of us having bags to sleep in, we had a very fitful night. "Morning," I wake up. Startled and ready to fling fire any way I can. Realizing my mistake, I situate myself and calm down.

"Good morning Scarlet. Where are you going today?"

"Thought we should stay together."

"Why?"

"Once again tables have turned, and because it's safer. That's why. Also what's your name and remember I don't care if you give me your real name or not. Just something I can call you."

"Ivy, and fine. I need to go to the Warrior Academy so that's where we should be going."

"Good place as any." And with that it was settled. We head back to Warrior Academy, and my father.

>>>

With a luckily uneventful week of traveling, we arrived at the Academy. "Something's wrong. There's a different feel about this place? Almost gloomy..." hmm... "It's just feels... Wrong? I don't know... Off?

Well, I've never been there before. So I wouldn't know.

Wait, you haven't had your mandatory year? Or even your solitary tutor?

Nope. They don't do that where I'm from.

Where are you from?

Not somewhere I'm proud of." With that we walked in.
