January 18 1875
Dear Via,
I woke up by my mother Kristina. Her face we right next to mine, and the candle was right next to her face. ''Wake up Jade. Your dad will leave in 4 hours. Lets spend as much time with him as we can" she said, smiling her precious smile. I was done what I have said to do, I put on my finest emrald green dress, with tiny daisies embrioided around the ends. Brushed my blonde hair, and put it into two plaits, wore my boots and held my candle and went downstairs. As I wanted to enter the kitchen, I heard mother and father having a conversation. ''You know those drunk men won't leave me alone if a man isn't with me'' she said.
''What do you mean by that Kristina?''
''James, I think we should divorse''
''But why. We have our Jade and Brad, and Lucy on the way''
"You'll be away for 10 years! Do you really expect those idiots would not try hurt me? Or the kids?!"
"They still know we're married."
"Yes, but theres no man to protect me! Thats why!"
"I can send in my brother!"
"Who's going to battle with you?!"
"Right.. I think its for the best"
"Just know that I still love you, and maybe if you come back, we'll be together again. But for now, I have searched for a man, its Benett. Who lives a cross the street''
''Good man..''
''How will we tell our dear Jade, and Brad!''
I stepped in ''good morning. Mother, Father" I said, pretending nothing happened. Mother has just finished making jam and toast for me, and poured some orange juice. ''Thank you Mother'' I said, and started to eat. My Father took my other hand and said ''Jade we have something to tell you... We have to divorse..'' I tried to frown but bursted out laughing instead. ''Jade! Are you simple?!"' my Mother shouted. ''I-I already know'' I said. ''Then why on earth were you laughing?!'' Mother shouted again. ''Woah, leave poor Jade alone. She must be just a bit shocked'' my father said hugging me.
When it was time my dad left, he hugged each of us for at least 10 minutes. When he hugged me, I hugged him back tight, I started crying. A lot. Then I gave him the note I wrote him. ''This note is private Father. No one should ever read it whatsoever.'' I said trying not to sob again.''I promise. Now my dear Jade, be good to your Mother, don't tease Brad, and help your mother with Lucy when she comes'' he said ''Do you promise me Jade?'' he said. I nodded and hugged him again. We all stood by the door, looked at Father walk away with other soldiers, and disappearing into the 5AM darkness.''I LOVE YOU FATHER!'' I shouted. I heard a faint sound ''much more!'' We went inside, Mother marched up into her room and started sobbing. Brad started up again, tears ran across his cheecks like floods. I hugged him tight and picked him up to my room. I set him next to me in bed and started telling him stories

Their father had to go on an important space trip to the sun. Tho it might be risky since its dangerous. John was the bravest from all his family members. Even when his Mother and Angela cried, he was the man in the house, always helping around...''
It seeme like forever untill he slept. I crept out of my room and had a glass of water. I went into Mother's bedroom to check on her. She was asleep, I saw that it she was sobbing a lot, because these was tear stains on the pillow and sheet. I kissed her on her cold, damp cheek. And went done stairs, I started knitting. I don't want to brag, Via. But, I think I'm pretty good at it. I started knitting Lucy a hat for winter, a gown when she slept, and now I'm working on a yellow dress.
It was like forever. I had finally finished the yellow dress, and make a little toy. Then I looked at the clock and saw it was 11AM. I put my knitting aside, and got a piece of paper and wrote.

And put it on my mothers bed. I grabbed my basket. And skipped along, Ms.Gemma was visiting her son, Justin's, grave. I started getting scared because Justin died during a battle. I froze, and looked at poor Ms.Gemma and her Daughter Susan, crying. Would that be me and Mother? I started thinking about knitting to stop me from sobbing. When I finally reached the market, I saw my friend Peter, working at his father's bakery. ''Good morning Peter'' ''Good morning Jade. Muffin?'' he said handing me a muffin. I hesitated. ''Come on. Its filled with starberry jam, your favorite.'' He said. So I took it, and put my hand through my pocket to get some money.''No,no this is on the house'' ''That's so nice of you Peter thank you.'' I said and gave him a quick hug. I waved good bye as I stopped by the stall with the best vegetables and fruits. I picked 4 pieces of shiny red apples, and a batch of bananas, and some lettuce and tomatos, and finally, Mother's favorite, blue berries. I went to Mr.Johnson, the cashier and owner of the stall. ''The blue berries are on the house, since it's Kristinas favorite. Poor Kris, she must be heart broken.''he said and putting them in a plastic bag. ''Thank you Mr.Johnson" I said. He smiled, and nodded.
I'm finally back home. Brad was outside, playing train. I went in and smelled a cigerette. I ran into the kitchen...
"MOTHER!'' I shouted and swapped the cigerrete off her mouth.
''YOU'RE PREGNANT YOU KNOW YOU CANT SMOKE''
She started crying ''I know.. I just feel lost''
I felt real sorrow and hugged her. ''I know its hard. But we have to do this together" I said. ''But promise me to never ever smoke until at least Lucy's 5." She sniffed and said ''I promise... I love you my Jade'' ''Much more Mother''
