I Love You, But Understand

I love you,
But you are fighting so hard
You don't seem to notice me:
Crying, Crashing, Drowning
In this war that you've created.
(Do you not see what you're doing to us?)

I love you,
But you believe so hard that the world is against you
That you have spent this war killing yourself
Instead of the problem.
(Or was that your plan all along?)

I love you,
But every day you drink yourself into a different person
And I fear one day I won't even recognise you anymore.
(I'm not sure I ever knew who you were)

I love you,
But please understand if I cannot hold on any longer
While you destroy everyone who loves you.
(I will not be another of your victims)

You are my family, and I love you.
But one day I will refuse to hold on any longer
Because this ship is sinking and I will not drown with you.
(And I refuse to apologise for that)

Being selfish is looked down upon, but if you love someone and they are dragging you down with them because they refuse to seek help then sometimes you may have to let go for your own good.
