Whodunit?

Pop Tates was the center of attraction of all the young residents of Riverdale. Like any other day, Archie and his gang were hanging out at their usual spot, enjoying sips of coffee and sweet delicacies.

All of a sudden, the lights went out, darkness invading every corner of the diner. Everyone stops chattering and contemplates what has just happened. A few jittery minutes later, the lights pop back on and everyone looked around in confusion. They noticed an empty seat where one of their friends was previously sitting.

What happened in the blackout? Where was the missing body?

All look around, trying to determine who was missing from the bunch, seeing an empty chair between Archie and Betty. The peppy blonde ignored the shy girl, considering her competition for her love-interest, Archie.

To Betty, Archie was a heartthrob. He deserved only the best, and that was her. Although feuding inside her own head and unsure of how to come out with these...emotions. Due to these complications, she turned to her best friend, and to her, partner in crime, Veronica Lodge, for advice. Although Veronica had once suggested they make out in the cheerleaders locker room, she had fought for their friendship and tried to rekindle it, promising to keep her sexual tendencies out of the way.

"Who went missing?" Archie whispered, heart pounding in his chest as his eyes scanned the room once more. "Who's not here?"

"Valerie," Betty announced, matter-of-factly. A quick roll of her eyes followed. "She's not here. She was sitting between us."

"Oh, crap," Archie mumbled. "Crap. Did anyone see what happened?"

"No," Ethel said quietly. The redhead wanted to stay out of trouble with her friends, Betty and Veronica, and would therefore agree with whatever they had to say. "It was too dark to see anything. I thought at first I had gone blind."

"Alright, well, the Boy Scout law is to be helpful, so that means we must go find Valerie to help her," Dilton Doiley said, standing up abruptly from his seat. "Come, friends, let's find her."

"We have no idea where she could have disappeared to," Betty scoffed, crossing her arms. Archie looked between her and Dilton, slightly confused by his pal's negative attitude. "She could be anywhere by now."

"As a Boy Scout, I must try," Dilton responded, taking out a magnifying glass from his bag. He traveled around the room, glass up to his eye as he peered through, looking for clues.

Minutes later, a shriek pierced the silence when a lifeless body is found in the diner. Everyone hopped up from their seats and rushed to the sound, finding Dilton standing frozen in place, head craned to stare at the body. He swallowed slowly, now feeling as if his choice of being a Boy Scout was poor.

Ethel's eyes widened and she turned away, hand over her mouth to keep from throwing up. Veronica frowned while Betty hid a smirk, secretly glad for the young woman's death. Less competition that way.

Betty stood beside Archie and sighed, wiping her fake tears from her cheeks. Archie turned towards her after hearing a sniffle.

"Hey, you okay, Betty?" he asked with a soft voice. When she shook her head, he pouted. "Need a hug?"

She nodded. He opened his arms and engulfed her, letting her take in his sweet scent.

"Uh, where did Dilton go?" Chuck muttered, staring around. "He was literally just standing there."

Betty growled lowly when Archie let go and began to converse with Chuck about Dilton's whereabouts. Kevin began talking to them, saying he saw a shadow only moments before Dilton's disappearance.
