Her world was once filled with magic. She was surrounded by those who lived the night and those who served the day. She was surrounded by the nightwatchers, vampires, the armies, werewolfs. Then there was the keepers, witches. The nightwatchers, all fed at dusk and while armies returned home the night watchers took their places to keep watch and protect our home while we slept. The keepers kept our harvest growing, and prepared us for what the future holds. Her mother was in control of the nightwatchers. She couldn't be in the sun so she slept the day away and as the sun began to set and the danger was gone, she woke the watchers. Her father ran the armies. He command them and set them at their post. Today he a small group helping to build a few more homes for the people. As for the keepers, they had a group called the elders who helped maintain them. Together they helped prepare for any disputes. Here her family ruled. They were loved by all the creatures. And Alexina was the rarest of her kind. As far as her world knew she was the only one. She was born with the gift of everything. She had the genes of a werewolf and a vampire. Also at a very early age she discovered she could use magic. The elders in her small kingdom believed she would be a true ruler. The one to keep the peace between all kind. Many believe that is how they lived together for so long.
Alexina sat at the bottom of the staircase waiting for her mother. Her long hair settled around her. Once the moon started to settle in the sky her mother descended the stairs.
"Alexi, child the sun is down, why are you not resting?" Her mother asked softly using her nickname her family often used. Alexina couldn't help but notice how beautiful her mother was. She only hoped to be as flawless as she was. Her mother had long red hair that seemed to float around her waist. Her mother had startling blue eyes that could see into your soul. Alexi could never tell a lie to her mother, she would know. She had a soft porcelain doll face that made you feel safe.
"Mama I wanted to see you before you fly" Alexina said referring to her mother's nightly flight around the kingdom waking her fellow vampires for nightly duty. "I learned so much today mama look" Alexina said she lifted her hand and watched as she made flowers appear in front of her.
"That is wonderful, Stella has shown you illusion?" Her mother asked referring to her maid.
" Yes, do you like it?"
" I love it" her mother smiled wrapping her in big hug "now off to bed little one you need your rest "
"Yes mama" she ran up the stairs and down the long corridor to her room. She stared out the small window and watched as her mother flew through the sky. I love you Alexina thought. I love you too little one. Her mother's voice echoed through her head. Alexina searched her wardrobe for her night clothes. As she slipped into them she heard the faint sound of a wolfs howl. Goodnight father. Silence and then a quiet Goodnight my Lexi. She laid in her bed and closed her eyes. Thoughts of what Stella will teach her tomorrow filled her mind as she drifted of to sleep. The next morning she was awoken by her father.
"You will be with me today. You will finally get to see what I do with our armies" His groggy voice said. She looked up at him he was a tall man, he had short dark hair with a long scruffy beard that tickled when he kissed her cheek. He had bright Emerald eyes like she did. Unlike her mother's porcelain figure her father had a much more sculpted figure. She smiled once the morning fog cleared her mind. She enjoyed the days she spent with her dad. She learned so much about the town. Her father was a real people pleasure he helped in any way he could. She always said it was because of his huge wolf heart. She wrapped her arms around him for a big hug. Her father held her tight for a moment. He released her soon after.
"Now hurry down, your meal is ready" he said softly. She eyes him carefully, she hoped it was not lamb and its blood. She disliked the taste of blood. But it was essential to her survival. Being a half breed of werewolf and vampire. She, unlike other vampires could walk the day. She could also survive off of regular meat longer then most. She didnt need blood often but her mother and father made sure it was a part of every meal so she would never feel the thirst. She debated reading his mind, but her father's sideway glance kept her from pursuing it.
