One day, there was a little girl, who had a happy, contented life, and who always played with her favorite spot in the backyard: a very old tree, beside a streetlamp, which when lit, casts a very beautiful shadow on her bedroom.

One night, while the girl was staring at the shadow, of the beautiful tree, there was something hanging from the branch on the tree: the shadow of an apple, which looks so large, so sweet. But it was high, so high up the tree, that she can't see the apple outside from her backyard... Oh how she dreamt of eating it!

Nights passed... the apple, though looking unscathed, never appeared to rot... The girl showed her dad the shadow of the apple that never rots, so the dad, who loved her so dearly, decided to climb up the tree, and get the apple for her, for her birthday was near.

The next day, the father got a ladder, and climbed up to the top of the tree, and realized something... That the tree that they owned never bore fruit, and that the apple that casts a shadow on his daughter's room every night, that the apple that her daughter dreamt of eating, was none but a child's severed head, the father was distraught, and decided not to tell his daughter.
