Chapter 3

Skye's POV

The trip back to the base felt like forever.

The awkward silence and me sitting between Bobbi and Hunter,just made me queasy.

When we arrived,I gladly hoped out the van and began to speed walk to my bunk.

"Uh uh Little Ms.Spunky!"

I turn and glare at Hunter who smirks at his knew discover of how to push my buttons.

"Little Ms.Spunky,I like it,"Bobbi and Hunter nod in unison.

Wait!Bobbi and Hunter agreeing on something?

Wow,they must really be enjoying my pain.

My moment of peace is soon interrupted by Coulson entering the garage.

"I-"

He put up a hand to pause me.

"Director..."the others greet him but he ignores them and looks straight to me and me only.

"You blew a mission and not anyone,the mission that many agents her have been waiting for so,my office,now!"He seems all stern and rough.

Is it an act an act or his he really mad at me?

I just nod and leave the garage with five pairs of eyes breaking down the layers of the wall I worked so hard to put up.

I sit nervously in Coulson office, at the chair in front his massive desk,twiddling with my thumbs.

The door swing open to reveal Coulson.

He takes a seat at his "king throne",as I like to call it.

He just sits there and stares at me.

"You learnt that from May,didn't you?"

I smile but it fades at his still emotionless face.

"So...,I'm really sorry Coulson-"

I stop myself.

"Director,"I correct,but I-"

"Okay,lets cut to the chase,why in the name of Thor would you let Ward,Grant Ward,get away?"

"Thor?"I question,but quickly get back on topic"I-"

"You were brainwashed..."

Coulson gets up nodding to himself.

"No I wa-"

"No,you still are-"

"Coulson!"

"He's controlling you...."

"COULSON !"

That gets his attention.He stops pacing and stands in front of me.

"I'm not brainwashed...."

"Then why Skye,why would you not shoot Ward!"I feel tears fill in my eyes as he looks down at me,disappointment clear as day on his face.

"He just said somethings,it wouldn't happen again,I promise,he just hit a weak spot-"

"What did he say to you?"

"Some stuff,but-"

"Don't make me get that truth serum...."he warns.

"I know it's not real,well,at least that's what Ward said,but I believed it was real,but right now,"I blink back tears,fighting the urge to burst into tears and curl up into a ball,"I really wish it wasn't real...."

"Skye,"his tone send me a aback,it's soft,tender now,like the Coulson I know."What did Ward tell you?

I feel the tears start to fall in a cascade of clear running down my already tear-stained face.

Coulson stoops down so he's at my level and grabs my hands.

I sniffle and try to clear my throat as I begin.

"He....he said that Garret was like the amazing father he never had,like the normal,not messed up family he had as a kid,and asked me if I would betray...."I stop to take a deep breath,"if I would betray you guys if put in the same dilemma."

Coulson takes his thumb and wipes my tears.

"He also said he wanted to meet me,that he loved,no loves me and that we would meet again."

Coulson takes a minute to process this his eyes skirting the room,but never meeting mine.

"Ward will never see you again once I'm still breathing."

With that Coulson stands.

He rubs my shoulder and leaves me to cry.

Ward's POV

I clean the wound on my thigh.

Bobbi shot me.

I will get my revenge.

But I got to see Skye.And that's all I really went for.

But I need to meet her again,alone.

Skye's POV

I'm currently in my bunk.

I have the feeling no member of the team will want to talk to me for a while.

At least,that's what I thought until I heard a knock on the door.

May entered.Her face was stern.

"Training time,I may be pissed at you,but that doesn't mean you can ditch me!"

I gulp and nod,getting up and wiping at my face.

Her face softens.

"You were crying?"

"No!"I say too fast.

"Okay..."she goes back to the robot look.

Shit,this training session,she's mad,I know I'll get my ass kicked.

I just sigh and follow her to the training room.
