Friday Night Fright

Another weekend means another hunt for Crystal and Ben. They found a strange ghoul case in Missouri where the ghouls were upping their game and started going after the living instead of the dead. 

"If monsters could just stop and take a break or not go after the living maybe we could take some time off." Crystal and Ben just checked into their crappy motel room. Crystal was on her laptop looking through the case files and Ben was complaining as usual. "If ghouls go after the dead then why start going after the living now."

"Maybe to step up their game. I mean think about it. I mean we get tired of digging up graves when we hunt, maybe they are tired of doing it. Not all monsters are evil but the minute a monster steps out of line we have to kill them." Crystal was looking at the autopsy report and kind of remained her of their first case and the ghoul. A lot has changed since then. Hunters were at war that wasn't going to end anytime soon. Lucifer is loss, hunters are dying unexplainably and everything around them seems to be turning into chaos. 

"Lets just go hunts these son of a bitches already."

Meanwhile...................................

Nigal was going out with his friends that weekend. He felt good getting away. He has had a vacation in a long time. His father won't mind, he never does. Nigal was on his way to meet his friends when ghouls jumped him. He was not match for them. He was about ready to die if someone didn't shot one of them. The other two  ghouls started running away, but didn't get far. Two head shots later and they were dead. Nigal stood up and turned to face the people who just saved his life.

" Thank You............................Crystal." Nigal just looked at her with pure shock. He never saw her when she was hunting.t was like he was staring at a completely different person.

" Nigal, what the hell are you doing here."

" Guys" Ben said cutting in. "Sorry to interrupt, but we need to get rid of the bodies before anyone sees."

"Right" Crystal said trying to focus at the task at hand. "Look Nigal, I know that this is a lot to take in but can you help us out and I'll explain everything later."

"Ok, so what do we do?" Ben gave him the summary of what they had to do. They took the bodies and burned them. They cleaned up all the blood and traces that they were there.

After they were done they went back to their motel room and had a couple of beers. Ben and Crystal took turns explaining to Nigal what they were and how they learned about this. Nigal flipped out at first, but the more they explained the more he understood.

"So you two hunt monsters for a living. Your family were always hunters and it was in you blood, even though they never told you about it. And I'm a men of knowledge" "Letters" Ben said cutting him off. "You're a Men of letters."

This happened  before the Men of Letters started killing and touring hunters so Crystal and Ben were cool with it but also scared. The Men of Letters and Hunters are suppose to be sworn enemies. But they've know Nigal for years. Ben didn't trust him but Crystal did. So they kept him on a need to know basis.   

"So now that I know about you two do you have to kill me" Nigal asked nervously.

"Well............." Ben teased.

"BEN! No we're not nor are we going to kill you. You just have to promise to keep his a secret. If our enemies ever found out about us it would put us and the people we love in grave danger."

"In danger from what? The monsters that you guys hunt," Nigal asked.

"One of the things" Crystal knew she probably shouldn't be telling him this, but he had to know. "Look, we're at war. A war we are currently losing. Lucifer's on the loss, the Men of Letters are trying to recruit hunters and the monsters are getting stronger. Keeping this life a secret is crucial for our protection and our families."

"So, when do we start ?" 

"Woah, easy there tiger," Ben said. "First you need proper training. You need experience and practice. So, I hope you're ready cause the war has just begun."
