Shock.
He must have been shocked, well that's what I was hoping would be his main emotion at this moment, because Stefan looked speechless and almost frozen in time as he was face to face with his dead big sister. I smirked a little and I could have sworn his mouth was open for a while there whilst he just starred at me. Oh Boy. He wasn't saying anything, moving or even doing anything at all. I waved a hand in front of his face as I asked "Stef?" in a sweeter tone. And he seemed to snap out of whatever he was thinking about as he stood aside and said "come in" and I entered the Salvatore boarding house. As strange as it was I felt a warm chill shoot through me as I entered the foyer and walked through to the living area of the place. I was caught off guard by a blonde woman who glared at me as if I had just stolen her puppy. My lips twitched into a slight smile for a second. "you must be the baby vamp" I commented. As I moved past her feeling her eyes on me the entire time as I walked over to the counter top to pour myself some bourbon in a glass. I spun around on my feet to see that Stefan had just closed the front door and stood at the other side of the room with that glassy look in his eyes still. I grinned, taking a sip of my bourbon. Feeling the liquid slide down my throat and winced at the taste and almost spat it back out. "I guess Damon would have the good stuff" I said as a statement more than a question and I couldn't help but laugh as I realized that the blonde had put her hands on her lips as she starred at me. Stefan seemed to just watch me with some kind of admiration. I still assumed it would be the shock thing still.
I sighed realizing that Stefan probably needed another couple of minutes to let the shock settle and for him to realize that his dead sister was standing in front of him so I spun around, downing the bourbon and pouring some more. I hadn't picked up my glass when I felt a breeze and Stefan had moved across the room and was now right in front of me and seemed to be just taking in every inch of my appearance. And suddenly he said in more of a whisper "Aubrey" and moved closer, throwing his arms around me, it took a second for me to react and hug him back because at first I thought he was pouncing for an attack. That was what over a hundred years on the run living in secret did to a person. You always assumed people would attack.
As I hugged my little brother back I closed my eyes just feeling the warm embrace of my brother that was actually glad to see me alive and in person. That was one brother down. As I opened my eyes and moved away from Stefan I noticed the huge grin on his face and I didn't even realize mine had matched his until the blonde spoke, interrupting our little reunion. "Stefan?! Stefan - is this an old girlfriend or something" and he turned to look at the stern expression on her face and we both broke out into laughter. And the blonde just seemed to get more annoyed by the laughter but neither of us could help it. "no - no Caroline this is Aubrey" Stefan said as he looked at me out of the corner of his eye. I looked at the blonde vampire with interest for the first time since I had arrived. Picking up my glass of bourbon I downed the liquid quickly trying to ignore the foul taste in my mouth and threw my glass back on the counter.
Stefan was watching Caroline, she was watching me and I was intrigued as to why exactly this Caroline vampire was so protective of him. And then it hit me. Jealousy perhaps? "Caroline, is a friend of ours. She was turned into a vampire by Damon and this - is my sister Aubrey, Damon's twin sister" Stefan explained as he turned to look at me again and I simply smiled. Caroline seemed to have trouble taking that information in because she yelled. "NO!" and threw her hand over her mouth. and said things like 'no way' and 'are you serious' several times before she seemed to really accept the introduction. Caroline's look of annoyance seemed to have turned to confusion and then to inquisitive. I looked at Stefan who seemed to be giving me a strange look, I looked at him for a while until I realized he was silently begging me to be nice.
