It's too late to turn around now Raven you have to jump! Jump off the bridge!Growing up was a fairytale with a terrible ending. It lead to broken hearted, miscommunication, and reminiscing over the past. Raven was stuck in the past trying to get the feel of the present. She held onto things that were dangling by strands. Nobody wanted to get close to her, yet she didn't know why. When problems occurred they weren't really her fault, it was the fault of those she surrounded herself with.
Sea smoothed stones sat at the end of the bridge where Raven stood. Raven felt that everyone was out to get her, and her only way out their hands was death. Death at her own expense. The white part of her corneas were dark red. Tears fell down her cheeks, which where custy from her previous crying. She stood one foot from the edge with her arms spread out like an eagle. She was ready to jump.
"Hey wait don't do this. It's not worth it." said a big buff white man. Raven look at the man with her bloodshot eyes. "What do you mean it not worth it? You don't know me from a can of worms." "You're right. But I do know somebody who took their life on this same bridge four years ago." "Ohh well good for you trying to turn their life around." Raven responded. "It's not like I have people who care". With that, she leaned even more, about to fall over but the man grabbed her before she fell. He put her into a headlock until she passed out, and called the ambulance.
10:00 That Night
Raven was awoken by the sounds of the beeping machine next to her. She was panicking and trying to get out the bed when she realised she was handcuffed to the railings. She looked across the room and was frightened by what she saw. The same big buff white guy was asleep , he ruined her chance to be free . "Hey! Hey! What are you doing here?" Raven said trying to get the man's attention. The man squirmed around before waking. "Hey! I see somebody's awake. How are you feeling?" "Shitty thanks for asking" Raven said rubbing the back of her neck sarcastically.
"Why am i handcuffed to this bed? Can you have them uncuff me please?"
"How about a no? Don't you remember the encounter we had earlier today?"
"Why would you remind me of that?" she said with watery eyes. The room quickly turned into a quiet but awkward state. The sound of a cell phone ringing broke the silence."Hello?" The man asked answering the call. "Hey Robert did you get my postcard I sent you last week?" "Yeah Mom, but I'm kinda busy right now. Can you call back later?" "Okay darling I will. Don't forget my pot of geraniums for Mother's Day."
The real reason that Robert was at the bridge that day was because his daughter Robin successfully took her life on that same bridge. He stopped Raven from jumping because he knows what it feels like to be a grieving parent, and doesn't want her parents to go through that. Raven was released from the hospital later that day. She got back home, but her parents weren't ecstatic to see her. The sense of loneliness and self-disappointment washed over her again. Around 1:30 the next morning, Raven folded the letter she got done writing and sat it on her dresser. That was last time Raven was known to be alive.
A few days later, Robert got a call from Raven's parents about her death. The suicide letter she wrote was addressed to him, thanking him for his positive and encouraging words. In the letter she asked him about his daughter Robin. She was the one who took her life on the bridge four years ago. The last lines of the letter read, "Robins and Ravens are birds. Birds want to free. We will find our happiness now, in our eternal peace."
