My legs shook with unease as I gently pushed myself up and off the ground. Being unable to stand straight, I had to hunch. I could feel the pain radiating through my lower back as I bit my lip to hold back the groan threatening to escape. I lifted my foot gently, not very high off the ground and I tried to take a small step. I stumbled and fell to the ground barely catching myself with my hands. I was not going to cry, I had to be strong. I felt a strong hand grip my shoulder and I gasped and tried to jerk back from fear.
“It was worth a shot wasn’t it Blondie!” the menacing man growled. I couldn’t see his face because he was hidden behind a blue baseball cap and the darkness from the night was illuminated on his face. The only thing that I could make out was the brown, hollowness of his eyes. He dropped me down to the ground and straddled me. He was stronger than I was and I knew there was no use in fighting him off. He laughed cockily and spit in my face. I tried screaming but no sound was coming out. I felt a tear roll down my face and he leaned down to kiss my tears away. I yanked my face to the left and he grabbed my chin whipping me to face him. I didn’t know what to do I just gave in. I had no fight left in me. The man stood up noticing my struggle had dissipated. Laughing he held out a knife and licked the blade. I widened my eyes from fear and then slowly turned and shut them. He leaned down and breathed heavily in my ear. I then felt the blinding pain of the blade as he grazed my skin lightly from my left ear to my collar bone. I shuddered from fear and he took it as pleasure. He then licked my blood and whispered the seven words I will never forget. “Keep the blonde hair I like it.”
He then slowly got up and planted a hard, bruising kiss on my lips. I kept my eyes firmly shut and prayed he would just kill me. I felt his presence leave me and I heard strong footsteps walk away. When I opened my eyes, I saw the darkness of the park and knew he was gone. Now that I was certain, I let my tears fall fast and hard. I felt warmness seeping down my neck and I tried to move my hands to stop the flow of blood. I tried lifting my left arm and I couldn’t. I shook in fear and then lifted my right arm to grasp my neck. It was weak but luckily it still had movement. After I had checked my neck, I craned it to see if my purse was anywhere to be found. The movement caused immense pain and I cried out. I found my purse at arm’s reach and I tried grabbing for it. I tried harder and grunted. My finger grazed the strap and I slowly fisted it. I dragged it towards me and pulled it to my chest. My breathing was now strangled and I paused a moment to catch my breath. Minutes later, I pushed my right hand in my purse and searched blindly through it. I felt the hardness of my phone and pulled it out. I pushed the power button and watched the brightness spring to life. I strained my eyes from the pain the light had caused and went to my favorites. I found the name I was looking for and pressed call.
The phone rang twice before I heard Sarah’s voice, “Hey hot stuff, Blake, Lucas, and me are getting antsy. We have the movie picked out so you better hurry.”
“Sar-,”I struggled to talk and my voice was strangled. “Help me.”
“Blaine! Oh my gosh, Blaine where are you? What’s going on? Are you okay? Talk to me.”
“Park, outside house,” I tried.
“Park, house,” she whispered trying to decode my message. “No, Blaine, I’ll be right there I promise!”
I felt my arm fall and I started to shut my eyes as darkness to over. The last thing I heard was my shallow heart beating and the faint sound of Sarah calling to me.
