When I got back to the house I went up to my room to look for my phone. I checked and saw that I hadn't gotten a text yet. I was slightly bummed but I told myself to just be patient. I went over to my window and opened it to look outside. I loved this room because it had an amazing view. I could see the beach perfectly.
"Crystal! Come downstairs for lunch" my brother yelled.
"Coming" I sighed closing my window.
When I go downstairs I see Nicole sitting on Chris' lap feeding him his pizza. I make a gagging motion to Brad and he laughs from the couch. I grab a slice of pizza from the box on the counter and go sit on the couch with him.
"What show is this?" I ask him.
"It's not a show, it's a movie." He says rolling his eyes.
"Okay my bad, what movie is this?" I say as I take a bite of my pizza. This time he doesn't say anything he just hits the _____ butting on the remote. I read the screen when the title pops up to find we are watching The Sandlot. "I've never seen this movie, what's it about?" I ask as I take another bite of my pizza.
His jaw drops. "You've never seen this?!" He asks.
"She barely ever watches tv, she's always reading a book somewhere!" Chris butts in from the kitchen.
"Right, forgot you were a nerd" Brad says.
"Hey! I'm not a nerd. I just like reading." I argue.
"Sure, and getting good grades huh?"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing at all, I'm gonna get more pizza, want some?"
"Yeah sure" I say finishing off the last bite of my slice and hand him my plate. He takes it and walks into the kitchen. I hear him talking to Chris and Nicole but I can't hear what about. Their voices give off the impression of a deep conversation. I wanted to get up and go in and listen but I felt like they wouldn't keep talking if I walked in. I strained my ears and could only pick up fragments of the conversation.
"Dude do it" Chris said
"I don't know if I can" Brad said and I could hear his voice shaking.
".......she does......cry....." I could only little parts of this sentence because Nicole started whispering. I hear some more mumbling and finally Nicole comes out with my slice of pizza.
"Where's Brad?" I asked her as I took my plate.
"Um, he went down to the beach" she said avoiding eye contact with me.
"Why'd he go by himself?"
"He just wanted too"
"Oh okay, well I'm gonna go down to the pier" I say as I stand putting my plate on the coffee table "I'll be back later"
"NO! Umm...I mean stay here, we can watch Mean Girls" she says pushing me back onto the couch.
"Uh...okay? You're acting weird.." I say trying to make eye contact with as she keeps trying to avoid it. "Nicole? What's wrong?"
She finally makes eye contact with me. "Nothing" she says as she smiles. "Let's watch this movie!!" She walks over to the movie bin and pulls out the Mean Girls DVD and pops it in the player. She walks back over to the couch and poops down pressing play on the remote. Chris is walks out of the kitchen and sits on the couch cuddling up with her as the movie.
...
"Now that the movie is over, I'm going down to the pier " I announce getting up and leaving the room quickly before she tries to make me watch another movie.
