Steve's Point of View

Steve walked up to the mine in Sector 44. He was alone at the moment. The newly created Resistance was all back in Creektown.

Sector 44 was a dangerous place, full of geysers that randomly spouted hot steam. The ground was entirely made of cracked stone, and the sun never shone for some reason.

Steve had opted to go alone on this mission because: 1) it was dangerous and 2) the Resistance needed to train. They were a small group, consisting of less than twenty people.

And their goal was to take down Mojang.

But that was long-term. Right now, Steve was on a mission to find gold for some technology the Resistance needed. The caves of Sector 44 were very rich in gold, so Steve had travelled there.

He found an opening to a cave that looked promising. A sign to the side of it said "DANGER: DO NOT ENTER".

Steve entered anyway, hefting his iron pickaxe over his shoulder.

He climbed down the naturally-made stairs of the cave. There was no light besides what little came in from the sun, so he placed torches every now and then.

When Steve figured he was deep enough, he started to mine away at the stone with his pickaxe. He hummed a little as he mined.

Suddenly, he heard a hiss. Steve turned around and saw a Cave Spider crawling towards him.

He chuckled and switched his pickaxe out with his diamond sword. As the Cave Spider leapt at him, he sliced it in half.

Steve put his sword away, clapped his hands together, then got his pickaxe back out. He continued to mine the stone.

Gold appeared after a few more blocks. Steve grinned and mined the six ore that came in that gold vein.

He finished mining the last gold ore below him when he heard another hiss. Steve turned around to meet the Cave Spider again and stepped back.

Stepping back was a bad idea.

He didn't realize that mining the gold ore on the floor left a gaping hole beneath it. Steve fell through that gaping hole, and landed hard on some stone beneath.

"Ow," Steve grumbled as he slowly got to his feet. He couldn't see anything, so he fumbled around his inventory for some torches.

Before he found any, something landed on him from above and bit him. Steve yelped and threw the Cave Spider away from him, but it was too late. He had been poisoned.

Steve winced each time he felt the poison. He still couldn't see, and now he was feeling woozy.

The Cave Spider hissed and was no doubt coming in for another go. Steve rolled to his left, hopefully throwing the Cave Spider off.

He rolled onto some cracked stone, and felt it give way beneath him.

"Great," Steve muttered as he fell again.

He landed on some gravel, so it didn't hurt too much. Still, his hearts were dwindling, especially because of the poison.

He could see in this new cave. That was because it was a ravine. He was at the top of it, three blocks from the edge. Lava flowed at the bottom of the ravine, twenty blocks down.

Steve saw some gold ore down there. But the poison was still coursing through his veins. The pain was blinding.

Finally, when he had half a heart left, the poison stopped. Steve exhaled in relief.
