Mina's phone kept buzzing in her bag causing Regina, her loathsome supervisor, to send dirty looks her way. Regina was just itching to catch her texting on the job ever since they both brought brownies to the office Christmas party (no one said it, but it was obvious that Mina's were better).

The incessant notifications worried Mina and she hoped there was nothing seriously wrong going on. But whatever it was, it had to wait another twelve minutes until her lunch break. Mina could feel the harpy's eyes on her as she rescheduled her boss meetings for the next week.

2:00pm finally rolled around and Mina quickly pulled out her phone.

alexio, 1:42pm: i need your help

alexio, 1:42pm: minaaaaaa pleaseeee

alexio, 1:45pm: missed call

alexio, 1:48pm: missed call

It seemed like Alexio Ramos, her best friend, was in trouble. Mina's heart began pounding in her chest. She prayed he was okay, knowing that he had some dangerous tendencies.

mina, 2:00pm: lexio? sorry, i'm at work so i can't answer the phone.

mina, 2:00pm: what's wrong?? are you okay?

alexio, 2:01pm: i'm sorry i didn't mean to make it sound so urgent... but it sort of is.

alexio, 2:02pm: i'm planning to propose to daniela soon!

Mina felt a wave of relief come over her. She had felt sick to her stomach ever since her phone began pinging crazily. Mina had been genuinely worried about the idiot. Had this been any other circumstances, Mina would've cussed Lexio out.

mina, 2:01pm: omg that's amazing! how are you going to do it?? what's the plan?

alexio, 2:01pm: that's actually why i was calling you. i need help with that part. i've spoken to my cousin sergio and he's going to have a 'bonfire' at his house but it will really be a surprise engagement party because i'm proposing, you know?

mina, 2:02pm: aw that sounds very cute! I don't see why you would need my help

alexio, 2:02pm: sergio doesn't have much time to organize it. not only that, but you and dani are friends. you know what she would want in a proposal... pleaseee?

mina, 2:03pm: depends on which cousin sergio you're talking about here

alexio, 2:03pm: thee sergio ramos ;)

mina, 2:03pm: no

mina, 2:04pm: you KNOW he thinks i'm a total creep. he totally saw me checking him out at your 24th birthday party

alexio, 2:04pm: no he didn't! i asked sergio if i should ask you for help and he said: good idea! i haven't really talked to her before, but she seems nice.

mina, 2:04pm: sergio ramos said that?

alexio, 2:04pm: word for word. i copied and pasted.

mina, 2:04pm: fine then. i'll help. you owe me big time because i'm honestly sure he remembers me eyeing him up. i will never forget how mortified i was when he caught me!

alexio, 2:05pm: AHH THANK YOU SO MUCH MINAAAA! and plus you shouldn't really be minding that much... i know he's your favorite football player and you were eyeing him up for a reason ;)

mina, 2:05pm: whatever.. i just want your and dani's engagement to be perfect. that's the only reason i'm helping. send me sergio's number and i'll text him later.

Mina sat on her couch mulling over the text. She finally stopped nitpicking the message for mistakes and hit the send button. She fell back into the cushions and sighed.

mina, 5:47pm: hi sergio, this is mina. alexio gave me your number because he said you needed some help with arranging the surprise engagement party

Mina just committed to something that required her to text, talk, and meet Sergio Ramos - the captain of her favorite football team. Knowing her, she will be absolutely starstruck and flustered when she meets the defender leading to massive embarrassment.

Oh, what the hell, she thought, as James Dean said, 'Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today.' and Mina's dream happened to contain a certain brown-eyed Spaniard.

Minutes passed. Hours passed.

Had she texted the wrong number? Did Sergio remember Alexio's 24th birthday party? Mina found herself lying her bed, anxiously checking her phone every few minutes for a reply.

10:30pm passed and Mina gave up. Tomorrow was a Wednesday, meaning she had work that morning and Mina is not about to lose sleep over a man she has never even met, let alone spoken to. With an anxious heart, Mina finally fell asleep.
