Late One Night

Sarah Cavanaugh waited in the loft for her friends. One by one they all showed up. Adam was first. He walked in casually on the phone, talking to the person on the other line. "Yes. Tuesday, Ofcourse. I will meet you at the back of the hall at lunch." He looked up and stared at Sarah who was staring at him back. "Gotta' go." He said seriously and hung up. 

"Uhh, you didn't hear anything right?" he asked innocently. Sarah smiled and shook her head.

She got up slowly and went to hug Adam, but was interrupted by the energetic Lily, bursting through the door and hugging her. Keira walked in and hugged Adam. They all giggled and waited for Jake.

He eventually arrived annoyed. "Sorry i'm late. It can get annoying having two mothers some times." Everyone laughed, then went silent. They all got up and greeted Jake.

Later That Night

Everyone was laughing, telling jokes and having a good time. And eventually they all fell into a deep sleep.

Adam woke up, not knowing the time. He checked his phone. It was 2.43AM. He also had a text message. He opened it and stared at the bright screen in astonishment. It read:

'I wonder what your friends would think if they knew what you were doing when you were supposed to be doing 'homework'. Kisses, -A'

Adam always slammed his phone on the ground. Who could know? He was careful. Maybe its a joke from Anna. He thought. He doubted that one of his customers would do that, it would risk him not being able to sell the pills anymore. Anna was the exact kind of person who would joke like that. She was also the only person, whom he didn't sell pills to, who knew about his business. Which makes sense, after all, she was his girlfriend.

Adam grabbed his bag and pulled out his drug tin. The pills were all gone. He swore under his breath. He used those pills every night. Well, except for last night, because he forgot. That is probably why he fell asleep.

Jake sat up from the long brown couch and yawned. He stared at Adam, who was still clutching his pill tin. 'Adam? You okay?' Adam quickly closed the tin and put it back into his bag. Jake got up and walked over to Sarah. He shook her and with the surprise of waking up, Sarah through her arms up and nearly hit Jake.

He stepped back quickly. 'Where's Keira? and Lily?' Sarah asked, yawning. Jake and Adam both shrugged. 'We don't know.' Jake said. 

They all sat around waiting. About 5 minutes later, Jake got up and walked over to the loft door. He opened it and saw Keira. 'Lily?' he asked, nervous. Keira just shrugged as she reached the door. 'She's gone.' Jake, Adam and Sarah all stared at her in astonishment.

'What do you mean she's gone?' Sarah asked. 

'I've looked everywhere. I think I heard a scream.' Keira told them quietly. 

They all sat back down on the couch and were silent.

In the morning, they all went home to tell their parents what happened. 

All of the parents were surprised, especially the mothers. Aria, was above all, sad. Ezra supported her but it did not help. Even though none of the parents wanted to believe Lily was gone, they decided to face it.
