Chapter 19: "Are you dying?"

"Are you dying?" he asked and after a pause, "Maimed?" another pause, "In another way severely injured or in need of assistance?" another pause in which Chanyeol snickered and then clapped a hand over his mouth, "Then I do not want to hear about it. Talk tomorrow, El!"

He hung up the phone and reached out to slide his hands back into the back pockets of Chanyeol's jeans. He sat up to be able to do it properly which put Chanyeol squarely in his lap. His heart was beating like it wanted to take flight and Tao's face was close.

"You're phone is ringing again," Chanyeol said.

"You have a cute butt," Tao told him, ignoring he phone completely, the comment startled a laugh out of Chanyeol and he kissed him again.

Then his phone started to ring as well. The familiar sound of the ringer pulling him back to the real world. He squirmed away from Tao's hands and went to answer it. Tao followed. He hugged Chanyeol from behind as he picked up the phone. Chanyeol didn't try to stop the smile on his face as Tao set his chin on his neck. He leaned back.

"Hello Vic," he said.

"Tao's sister is very concerned that he is cheating on me for some reason," Victoria said, "So I told her that I would call his boyfriend just to be sure."

Chanyeol's laughed bubbled over again and somehow he ended up with his phone on speaker while Tao and Ella bickered. He had no siblings. He had never even really had many friends so their back and forth full of inside jokes was a strange thing to be caught in the middle of. Tao played the boyfriend card harder than Chanyeol would have expected and Ella took it all as a joke but Chanyeol still found himself invited on the shopping trip that Tao had wanted to avoid.

"Will I regret agreeing to that?" he asked.

"Probably, but let's pretend that little interlude never happened and go back to the couch and the not studying," Tao said.

Shopping with Tao's family was an experience especially with Tao making a show of the boyfriend thing. There was hand holding and kisses on the cheeks and a third degree from Ella about who he was. She never used the phrase "Are your intentions honourable?" but Chanyeol kept expecting it. Ella had honey blonde hair and eyes a lighter shade of blue from her siblings. She had Vic exchanged looks sometimes as though they understood each other better than most.
