Another civil war was inevitable. The political downfall within what once was the United States of America caused unrest not only amongst the people, but the government as well. People turned against each other, as is common when two idiots are placed in a room together, and violence spread throughout the entire country. When things were all said and done, we had split up into three separate countries based on political parties; Republican, Democrat, and a neutral group. The republicans took the west, democrats, the east, and neutral took the central states.
We have been living this way for forty-five years. And, as time has gone on, this system has allowed us to make certain advancements. We are a technology ruled world. Every few months someone is coming up with a new idea to make our electronic devices more portable and easier to use. In our most recent update, there is a chip you get surgically implanted into your brain. It has no recorded side effects, and it makes downloading and accessing information that much easier!
These chips are useful to the government as well. Along with the advances in technology, human knowledge has grown as well. The average highschooler could access any computer remotely, and by the end of college, could hack most electronic devices as well. Due to this progression, the government was forced to find a different way of storing information. Every six months, the government randomly sends information to three different chips. Each of the people receiving it, referred to as carriers, is expected to leave behind the lives they knew and travel to a government base. From there, they will be protected from other governments that might want to use the information themselves.
Grace Cassidy sighed, reading back over what she had written. She needed an A on this paper desperately to keep her grade above a 98%. Even though it was nearing eleven at night, she knew there was much more to do before it was perfect.
