My parents were obsessed with basketbal. Everything about basket ball. Any game that is on in our state they grab tickets instantly. They say that they have never been to a concert before because every band/singer ever comes to play is always on the nights my parents are busy or watching the game.
I loved them, and if I could tell time and future, I would've appreciated every single moment I had with them.

My phone vibrated on the coffee table in the tv room. I could hear it all the way from the kitchen. I ninja'd across the room to get it but it was already in my fathers hand, trying to read it without his glasses. I rolled my eyes and snatched it off him and nudged his ribs playfully.
"You don't see me reading your messages dad" I laughed at him.
"Oh was that your phone.." he replied sarcastically as I headed towards the stairs to my room with a mug in my hand filled with hot chocolate!
A wave of relief warmed me as I thanked myself for leaving the heater on from this morning. It was really chilly outside and felt a bit cold.
I looked through my phone and opened the text that dad was failing to read.
- Haileeey, come to party at the lake! Alcohol free zone, so no need to worry. Pick you up at seven sharp! xo Dani :)-
I immediately bolted out of my room, jumped down the stairs and begging mum if i could go.
"Ask your father, in case he made plans for tonight as you know its Friday" she looked at me sternly.
I found dad playing the piano in the music room. That room was my favourite. It had all time records of dads favourite bands and a huge Elvis Presley canvas all around the room. There was mums cello and flute in the corner and dads guitar collections in straight line racks. Shelves coming down vertically on one side of the wall with trophies and medals, and beside all that was my recorder.
It was my first and only instrument I knew. But aside all that my parents were amazing musicians. But that all went down when all the techno came out and they decided to stop and look for another hobby. Sports.
I couldn't tell what dad was playing but it was soft and beautiful. He stopped and looked up seeing me learn on the door frame smiling.
"Daddy, you know I love you right?" I said sweetly as possible. he let out a laugh.
"What do you want..."
"Dani invited me to a party tonight by the lake and wants me to come." I said it really quickly.
he just nodded, "No."
"WHAT WHY?!" I squealed.
"because there can be alcohol, drugs..."
"DAD!" he stopped talking, but looked calm. "Dani is hosting the party, you know Margret and Paul's daughter! They don't do alcohol! and she told me there wont be any."
"We're going to a basketball game," he got up to walk to the door.
"Dad, please. just this one time, can I go. and if anything goes wrong. A fight, or anything I'll catch a cab and come straight back home. I promise" I could feel my shoulders weak. I was pretty eager to go, since it was almost end of the weekend I needed to go out.
"Okay go. But I'm going to call Paul in case I have any questions, got that?" he pointed at me and gave me a death stare. I raised my hands in defense.
"What ever" Ismiled and scooted out of the room before dad did.
When I got to my room, I realised something...
'What in the world am I going to wear?'
