It was dark out, yet, without the moon, or any form of clock, Bakura Ryou had no way of telling the current time. Surley, once he got inside he would know. The home which he was currently busy breaking into, The Kaiba Manor, was all but lacking in security for this night. As it typically did on this holiday. It was the one day a year he knew he could get away with this, at least, without police involvement.
He stood before the tall gates, the task at hand seemed daunting. He needed to find a way in, or make one for himself. (11) He tried to slip between the bars, yet as it turned out, the openings were too narrow. Had that always been like that, or had Kaiba gotten new gates? He chose to believe that this was a new feature. He walked around, deciding that it wouldn't have been best to look in just one spot. (19) Upon turning his head, he quickly noticed a way for him to climb up and over the fencing that guarded the home. He decided upon trying this way. As he would have been a fool not to. (16) With difficulty, Bakura was able to get over, now, he only needed to land without hurting himself. (16) The impact hurt his ankles, but it wouldn't last, he only needed to walk it off.
He approached the home as stealthily as he could now, not that he feared any guards would see him, but that he feared the excited barking of Kaiba's dog. (4) In is focus to stay stealthy, he seemed to forget his surroundings. He stepped on the tail of the sleeping dog, who yelped in pain.
Bakura was quick to try send remedy the situation. (9)
While he pet the dog to encourage silence, Jabba did cheer up, but he became loud in his joy to be pet, barking and yapping as he turned in circles.
He decided upon ordering the dog away. (2)
Even without the pets offered, Jabba still remained at his side, refused to listen to Bakura who he didn't find threatening. He wasn't a smart dog, if there was anyone he should fear in this moment, it was Bakura, as he had a task he needed to fulfill.
He tried once more to get the dog to leave, a sterner voice in use. (14)
Jabba remained a moment longer, hopeful that he'd get pets, but once he realised that Ryou was serious, he bowed his head and trudged away.
With that out of the way, a sign of relief left Bakura.
He continued his advance toward the home. He knew the door would be locked, but that didn't have to stop him from using it. (11) After a bit of struggling with unlocking the door, he realised the key he had forged had clearly not been for this lock. No matter. He could attempt to pick it. (19) With ease the door was opened, only the smallest of hiccups to overcome.
He stepped inside and, gently as he could, shut the door behind him. (9) With some sudden rush of wind, the door closed just a tad harder than Bakura would have liked, yet surely the sound hadn't been loud enough to travel upstairs and wake either of the sleeping Kaiba's.
He locked the door behind him.
Soon, he was heading toward the stairs, looking out for any stray cats. (4) As his luck would have it, he hadn't been able to spot the blackest little kitten that Kaiba kept, Cleocatra. Bakura tripped over her, the thud made was loud. He quickly tried to recover, before any other animal or humanness attracted to the sound. (20) With his quick movements, he was up and far away from the kitten and the spot of the incident before any of the live in employees were able to get to him.
He stood before the stairs now. This would be open of the more difficult steps, as this staircase was old and if he wasn't careful, a step may creak and allow the employees to know where he was. (19) He easily remembered which ones were loose and which ones were weakening. He only stepped on those which he knew he could trust, even if it meant he had to skip three steps at a time.
He was in the darkened hall now, he could hardly see, but he wouldn't be bringing out his phone to allow light. (3) He tripped twice more as he tried to navigate his way to Kaiba's bedroom, but he did eventually make it, with maybe a few injuries, but it would all be worth it.
He stood before the door, gently placed his hand on the handle. (19) The door slid open with ease, not even the smallest of creaks. Bakura stepped inside, he tried to carefully bring himself to the side of Kaiba's bed. (8) He nearly tripped once more, but caught himself on the bed post.
He leaned over Kaiba, a smile spread across his face. (11) For a moment, Bakura wasn't certain if he was sleeping or not, but eventually decided that he'd have spoken up if he was awake.
He slipped himself into bed next to Kaiba. (18) He made little to no mistake in doing this. He wrapped his arms around Kaiba. (6) The object of his affections stirred now. He groaned.
Bakura tried to push worry to the side. (16) He knew everything would be fine, even if Kaiba got a little angry, he never called the cops. Only his employees did.
Kaiba sat himself up, stared down at the trespasser. (20)
"Do you need a key?"
Bakura's smile only widened at the offer given to him.
