On Saturday my mom begged me to invite one of my new great friends (I told her I'd made Wednesday night just to please her) over. The truth was I had met a few people and acquainted Emily who surely had bestfriends she'd much rather spend with on a Saturday night. Plus then my dad would pressure me about attaining a girlfriend. The thought of my dad giving me relationship advice made me crinkle my nose. He wasn't the most... up to date with the last decade.
Unexpectedly , Emily texted me, asking me what I was up to. After I told her how I pathetically had no friends and I had been playing Monopoly with my parents all day, Emily responded with many laughing emojis and invited me to meet her at Orange Leaf at 7:00.
I went to grab my keys, searching through my drawers. Gosh, I really hope she thought I was kidding. I mean there's a reason the call board games , bored games.
I stuffed my keys into my pocket hastily, figuring I was most likely late.
" Will, are you leaving?" My mom called from downstairs.
I thought of what I would tell her. Not to vague but the details of meeting up with a girl wasn't needed. " I'm going out."
Way to go Will, definitely not vague.
" Alright! Come home whenever!" I rolled my eyes. Most kids pray for their parents to give them no curfew. Although, I'm pretty sure my mom is just overjoyed that I'm "making social contact with humans I'm not related to."
I drove myself in the jeep and used a GPS to navigate my way to the chic frozen yogurt resteraunt.
So many cars were parked in front, I instantly knew this was a popular place to go. I guess this probably wouldn't be my last time pulling into one of these parking spots.
"Will!" The red headed girl calls me over to the table. I sit down next to her and she beams at me. " I'm glad you came!"
"Me too. This week has been tragically depressing," I say.
" Whys that?"
" I have literally left my house three times." Her face falls and then I laugh. " It's fine. I've been here only a few days."
" You'll make friends quickly. Plus school is starting in just a few weeks," she reassures me. I study her face carefully. Her face is covered with pale skin and freckles that she has clearly tried to cover with makeup. Her eyes almost look like amber but I've heard her insist they are "poop" colored. Emily is quite beautiful but you can tell she is insecure.
" Oh great." Emily covers her face and I turn around and see a group of people walk in; three guys and one strikingly familiar face. The girl from Bible Study stood in the center of them.
They walk past , flash a smile and say hi to Emily who awkwardly waves back. I cannot take my eyes off of the stunning brunette that was such a mystery.
" Who were they?" I ask, really only caring to know who the girl was. She caught my eye and I want to know more of her. I've never even talked to her and she has captured my attention. How she has done it, is why she intrigues me.
" That was Dylan, Jackson, Bryce and Lydia."
" Do you know them?"
" I used to date Jackson. And Lydia used to be my bestfriend. Now Jackson and Lydia date," she plainly states. This seems to be rescant judging by the way Emily was acting. I decide to be a good friend and talk to her about the situation rather than ponder about how it was too bad the gorgeous girl with the perfectly fitting name wasn't available. I swore my heart sunk all the way to the floor with the news.
