My feet leave prints along the sea soaked sand
My eyes focused on the trail of shells in front of me
My mind is empty, drained of all pre-existing thoughts
My heart is beating, once for every step I take
The sharp salty air reminds me to breathe
The slight sink in my step keeps me grounded
The rise and fall of my chest feels lighter now
I walk towards the edge of the water
I watch the sunset waves gently crash
I feel the foam run between my toes
I feel the urge to take a step further
A few steps later the sea swirls round my ankles
A feeling of freedom enters the space in my head
This time I find myself walking
This feeling is guiding me, deeper and deeper
This is what it feels like to be waist deep in water
This could be my way out
Now my feet can't stop themselves
Now I want to feel more of this feeling
Now I feel this ice cold grip around my neck
Now I just keep going
I taste salt on my lips
I feel my body going numb
I feel everything and nothing all at once
I close my eyes and I stop
Nothing has to be in order anymore
I take control this time
And my head goes under
I feel my clothes stuck tight to my skin
And my heart's beating slower now
Everythings slowed down
Everythings in slow motion
Slippery seaweed drifts across my foot
I take a deep breath
Then a step forward
I feel the seaweed wrap around me
Urging me in, pulling me down
I laugh
Then my mouth is covered and I close my eyes
I obey to the anchor that's weighing me down
I give in, putting my head under the water
Now im light
Now im free
