The hour I had before school officially started, I used, as per usual, to find a remote corner and draw. I tried to get back to my oc, but I couldn't. I was distracted now, and a bit frustrated. That teacher, Reid. She was the persistent type I could tell. And I hated persistent people. They never knew when to give up, and they always pried. What's worse was I had a bad feeling she would end up my teacher. Our previous teacher had left on maternity leave, so we had a sub the past few weeks. Which would have been fine except I liked my old teacher. She was really chill, and had a lot of passion when she taught. With a sigh, I put away my sketch book, and just leaned back against the wall, eyes closed. I was not looking forward to today.
The sound of the warning bell jolted me from my cat nap. Making sure I had all my belongings, I made my way to my first period: math. The worst subject for me. Now especially, because that's the class Reid was probably going to teach now. I stalled at the classroom door as long as I could before I was forced to go in. My suspicions upon entering were proven correct, and I sighed before taking my seat in the back.
"Welcome class! My name is Ms. Reid. I will be taking over for Mrs. Thomas. I would hope that we would have a great year together, as I am a pretty nice person, but mind you, don't push me. I will not tolerate any crap. Do you understand?" She asked, looking over the class. Many yeses and yeahs coursed from the students. "Good. I will start with attendance, then we will pick up where your previous teacher left off."
During her speech, I had been lucky. I sit in the back so she didn't really seem me , if she even saw me at all. But my stomach dropped a bit as she started role call. I braved myself as she approached my name.
     "Annika Hansen?"
     "Present"
     "Nicole Hunter?"
"Here," I called out, a bit softly, but I was glad my voice didn't falter as it had a tendency to do so. Her eyes looked around the room to pinpoint the owner of the name, as she did with the other students, till finally her gaze landed on me. She paused for a second, putting two and two together, before she smirked, and continued. My indifferent mask never faltered, but I was a bit annoyed at her reaction. She was smug about figuring out my name. It grated on me, especially cause now that she knew I was in her class and my name, she would probably be more persistent, and less likely to give up.
When she was done, she picked up lecturing about whatever chapter we happened to be on, and I zoned out. We were already half way through the year and I knew I was going to fail. So I didn't bother. I put my head down on the desk and let myself drift in and out of cat napping.
