The rest of the morning flew by and before I knew it, it was lunch. Gage was in all my classes so I just followed him everywhere. Surprisingly, we had gotten along well and we liked nearly all the same things.

So, the bell had just rung and now we were meeting up with his friends for lunch. Helpfully, Gage led me over to a table of 4 more people who were Gage’s, and hopefully my soon-to-be, friends.

Gage introduced me as they stood up to meet me. There was Blake (male), who had brown hair and brown eyes, Noah, who had blond hair and blue eyes, Jessica, who had brown hair and brown eyes and Stella, who has brown hair and brown eyes. They were all gorgeous but they all welcomed me with open arms.

Throughout lunch we got to know each other very well as if we’ve been friends for years not just minutes but I could tell they were keeping something from me.

After 20 minutes of lunch, I started to sip my flask of blood but for some reason the rest of the table started to shift uncomfortably. What are they keeping from me??

The next couple of minutes were torture and I just couldn’t take it anymore. “Okay guys, what are you keeping from me? It’s getting really annoying!”  I spoke out my thoughts.

“Ermm … okay then we’ll explain to you outside,” Blake said. When we finally got to a space that was quiet enough, they all turned around and faced me. “There’s a reason why we are all so nice to you even though we’ve just met. We know your secret and it’s the same as ours. We’re vampires the same as you so we just thought you’d need some friends who are your kind. Is that okay?” Noah explained in a huge rush – I barely understood all of it.

I contemplated the ‘pros’ and ‘cons’ for a minute then rushed at them for a group hug. I think I’m going to be happy here.
