I wish I could say that having a celebrity father is the dream come true, but it's not. There's so many books about having the perfect life with rock star parents, but that's the color coated version. My name is Jade, and this is my story...
Summer was melting away, and fall was soon to come. I was sitting in my second to last period of the day on the second week of school, when the phone rang. I believe it was the first call we had gotten in the class, since everything was so new.
"Jade?" The teacher Ms. Granger called
"Yes?" I ask, my big blue eyes pleading
"Go down to the office" she sighs, her tall figure hunched
I stood up, and pulled my black high waisted shorts down slightly, then slung my back back over my shoulders. I walked down the halls with anxiety building in my chest. Running my painted black fingers through my curly ash brown hair, I feel slightly at ease, though. Then, I finally walk into the office to see a police man.
"Are you Miss Winters?" He looks up at me, my eyes go wide, then I nod "I'm sorry to inform you, but your mother Over Dosed earlier today, but we didn't want to interrupt your studies"
I sighed heavily, grabbing my chest, then covering my mouth as tears welded up in my eyes. I can't say I had the perfect life with my mom, but she's still my mom. When I was sad she'd almost always comfort me, show me the ways, but I can't deny she made many mistakes. I melted down, grabbing my knees as I belt over, so the tears wouldn't mess up my face.
"She-She's really... Gone?" I ask, looking up at him
"Yeah" he nodded with pity in his eyes
"No" I whispered
"No?" He asks
"No" I nod, then wipe my tears, leaving a streak of pure eyeliner and mascara across my exposed arm, then I let out a laugh "Your lying"
"I'm sorry" he sighs, then tears line my eyes once again
"She's not dead" I deny "She CAN'T be" I emphasize the can't, raising my voice
"She can" he nods "And she is"
"No, stop lying" I shake my head, my lip quivering
"I'm sorry" he says genuinely "Please come with me down to the station, your father will be here shortly"
"No" I shake my head "No"
"Don't make this harder then it has to be" he puts his head in his left Palm
"I'm not, you are" I say in a duh tone "I don't have a dad, I have a mom"
"She's gone, but your dad is here" he places his hand on my crossed arm
"SHE. IS. NOT. GONE" I growl
"If you get violent I'll have to cuff you" he warns
"Like, hand cuffs?" I ask
"Yes" he nods
"Is that like a kink?" I ask sarcastically, then he pulls me to his car, rolling his eyes
The ride was short but full of unforgiving silence. I just played with the hem of my cropped floral shirt the whole way and tried to distract myself from this nonsense. Soon enough he pulled in and I followed him into the station. He sat me down on a chair, and told me he'd be here any moment.
"Um... Where's the bathroom?" I asked, then he led me to the woman's room. I cleaned up my face and arm, then went to the window and cocked down the screen. I threw my black can covered foot out, then my head, arm, and eventually other foot.
"What are you doing?" A voice suddenly asks, I look down to see a tan, attractive man looking up at me, the only turn offs were his big gauges, and all his tattoos. I like tattoos, but that was too many.
"I'm killing myself" I rolled my eyes "What do you think?" He left out a slight chuckle
"Need help?" He asks "I might have a noose for ya"
"No thanks" I giggle, then jump the ten feet down, landing in a squat
"Hey!" The officer shouts, catching the man and i's attention "Stop her!" He charges towards me
"Shit" I mumble, my eyes growing wide. Then, I make a run for it, but the guy grabs my arm and stops me
"What's going on?" He asks
"She's supposed to be waiting for her father" the man says
"I don't have one" I spit on his, he growls, then wipes it off
"Yeah you do!" He yells frustrated
"Um... Yeah, I'm Tony Perry, your dad" the guy scratches behind his neck
"Where were you?" I whisper
"What?" He asks
"Where the fuck were you!" I scream, then tears line my eyes once more "WHERE WERE YOU?"
"I... I..." He stutters
"No answer, huh?"
