jordyn and william

⠀⠀I hated summer. No, I'm not crazy— actually, that's debatable. But I have a reason for my questionable hatred of summer, I swear.

⠀⠀It was mainly this summer specifically, my best friend would be leaving on a trip to California of all places while I was stuck here, in Philadelphia, alone.

⠀⠀if you've never been to Phili, you really aren't missing out on anything. I've been dying to get out of this stupid state ever since I moved here two years ago.

⠀⠀"do you have to go, steph? I mean, like, can't you at least take me with you?"

⠀⠀I give her my best pouty face but she just rolls her eyes at me.

⠀⠀"trust me, I would if I could but it's not going to be a fun trip anyways. My parents are just travelling for my dads business"

⠀⠀stupid rich people problems. sorry, was that rude? Doesn't matter, it's true. This girl was filthy rich considering her dad owned his own company. Like oh, boo hoo, you have to go to California for a business trip, how unfortunate ???

⠀⠀"I hate it when you complain about your family at least they provide you wi—"

⠀⠀just as I was about to finish my sentence, someone bumped into me.

⠀⠀"sorry"

⠀⠀he muttered, unapologetically. I turned around to face him, hands on my hips. I was about to call him out but something stopped me. I looked down to the object in his hands.

⠀⠀"what's the point of having a skateboard if you don't even ride it?"

⠀⠀he turned his head to look over his shoulder back at me. Sending me a small smirk before dropping his board and riding it off. I turn back around and me and my best friend continue walking.

⠀⠀"gee jordyn, what a nice way to interact with a stranger"

⠀⠀now it was my turn to roll my eyes.

⠀⠀"he's not a stranger. I've seen him around school like, once or twice. Actually, he might be in my Sociology class"

⠀⠀she looks at me with a mix of confusion and amusement.

⠀⠀"you aren't taking sociology"

⠀⠀I laugh. I'm such an idiot honestly.

⠀⠀"whatever. Just let my moment of stupidity slide okay? Can't I just live?"

⠀⠀I say, but I found my statement to be quite funny as well.

⠀⠀"oh jordyn, you are something else."

⠀⠀we reached a crossroads, (literally and metaphorically) one direction leading to my house and the other to hers. We hugged each other tight and I shed a fake tear at the sight of not seeing her for the rest of the summer. Her family was taking a plane down to Cali first thing tomorrow morning. Eventually, after some more heart-to-heart mushy gooey stuff that we both hated, we bid each other our farewells and headed off.

⠀⠀tomorrow was the last day of school and as much as I was happy, I was upset that I wouldn't be seeing my best friend for a whole two months. Like what am I even supposed to do for that long?

⠀⠀yes, I moved here around two years ago, but Stephanie was the only friend I'd manage to make. Sure, I knew people but not well enough to randomly be like hey! Let's hang out this summer! Yeah- so not happening.

⠀⠀before I knew it, the last day of school had come and gone. Truly bitter sweat. I was officially a senior now suffice to say— it really didn't feel all that different.
