once i showed a girl the edge of my cuts
just the beginning though, i didn't want to scare her
the face of pity vanished in a flash and she remarked, mine are worse
and she showed me her shallow cut, already healing over
staying silent i let her talk about her problems and after she spilt the few i had told her
i stayed silent, almost permanently and eventually her cut turned to a scar
and as mine got deeper she never even bothered to notice the blood dripping from my side
she didn't even offer me a band-aid -you're gone now but you've cut me deeper
