The Drive To a New Life

                        So here I am at 1 a.m. driving down I87 south headed to I 95 leaving up state NY in a 15 foot uhaul with my car on the back of it. Nikki alseep in the passanger seat with the sun conur sleeping inbetween us in hi cage head to start a new life down south. As I am going down the road all I see behind me is darkness on the ghost of a highway and everyonce in a while a red light swaying back and forth off the tow dollie. {Shit} I say to my self as I see that and I pull off at the closest truck stop to get duck tape to fix it so I dont get pulled over for a broken light.

        ( Why are we stopping here plz dont say we need gas already) Nikki asks as I come to a stop at the gas pumps. ( No I have to fix a light that broke off the trailer so we dont get stopped. If you want anything why dont you go in and get it before we get on the road agine) I quickly tell her as I clim out of the cab and head in side for some duck tape. After 15 min the light is fixed and we are back in the truck getting ready to leave ( You need me to take over for a bit so you can get some sleep?) Nikki asks me as we get ready to pull on the interstate. (Na im good I can make it a ways still before having to stop for a nap) I quickly tell her and I quickly pick up speed in the truck as she falls back asleep in the passenger seat. As im driving the sun starts to come up and I see the border for NJ in sight after 4 hours of being on the road already and all I can think is I cant belive im doing this I mean I really cant belive im moving away from all my family and friends and leaving everything behind just to start a new life in a new state. I look over and see nikki still sleeping away in the passanger seat as I keep driving thru NJ headed down south more and more. After about 3 more hours I am pulling in to Marland and my phone rings. ( Just cakking to see how the trip is going and where abouts you are) my mom asks me. (I'm just getting into marland on 95 and only had a small hick up with a light falling off the trailer but other then that so far so good.) I let her know. We talk for a bit more and she tells me to besafe and keep them up to date so they dont worry and to make sure we are making it ok. After saying good by I see a rest top coming up and i think its about time I get out to strich my legs and get something to eat plus I need to change my clothes into something abit warmer. As I dig thru a bag in the cab of the truck I find a pair of short shorts a black sports bra and black tank top.

  (I'm going in to change and get something to eat if your hungery as well and want to freshing up) I say to nikki waking her up. She agrees and grabs some warm clothes her self as we head in to change and eat. After we get food and are changed we head back to the truck and notice the some rigs showed up and where parked very close to each other looking like they might have blocked off out way out but did leave a gap. We get in and knowing that it well be very hard to back the truck up with a car on a tow dollie I decided to go thur the opening they left even tho its smal. (Are you sure well make it cuz it looks very tight down their) Nikki says as she looks at the end of the trailers where we see 3 truckers just standing there talking. ( Yes I;m sure I'll make it just watch that marror on your side while i go plz) I tell her as I ease very slowly to the small hole that was left. As i get closer I'm watching both marrors for clarence to make sure I stay right in the center and as I am crawling thru all three drivers are standing there watch me drive this 15 foor box truck and trailer thru a small opening. As I go I notice that gap on the marrors on both side is maby a half of and inch of clearance but that dosnt stop me and i keep pushing forword. after ai get the cab thru I keep watching to make sure I dont scrap the sides and all this time the other drivers are standing their with their mouths slightly open an awww at what they are seeing. After I get the truck all the way thru with out a scrap I see I need gas so I pull over to the pummps to fill up and as I get out the truckers walk over shacking their heads. ( Where did you learn to drive like that I mean we have never ever seen a female drive a box like that and have so much confidance doing so) one of the drivers says to me. I just shack my head and start laughing ( I have been driving this trucks with bigger trailers for years and I know what I can and can't do with them). They just keep looking at me shocked and we talk somemore about my driving skills and how impressed they where before we said our good byes and got on our ways.

  (Did you really have to show those boys up like that?) Nikki askes with a smile on her face. I just look over at her with a grin and said ( yes I did I mean just to see the faces was priceless and well worth it) I tell her as I make my way back on to the interstate. After about another 3-4 hours We where passing D.C. and she wanted to stop for drinks and food I agreed seeing I need to walk around some to keep my legs from cramping up.{remind you i have been driving since 1 am and here it is around noon}. After a 10 min break we head back to the truck and she asks if I need her to take over and at this point I am so tired that I am wide awakeand felt really good so I declined and we got back in and kept on our way. Around 2 p.m. my mom calls aging to see how things are going so I let her know where about we are and she was im preased that I was making really good time with a uhaul. Ater talking for about 30 min my mom said she will be calling back in about 3 hours to see where we are. At this time we where just crossing the vergina border and at that point I know in less then  hours we will be at our new place. Three hours later as promised my mom calls agine and at this point a we are almost to the border of North Carolina. So I pull off into the last rest stop in aVa to talk with my mom and do a bathroom break. After talking for 10 min and letting her know everything was still going good we head back on the road Knowing that in 3-4 hours we will be home so off we go back to the interstate. After 3 hours we are almost to the new house when all of a sudden the gps starts acting up and telling us to keep doing u-turns which might I add is not easy with a uhaul and trailer with a car. After playing around with the gps in a parking lot I finally get it working agine and see that we are still and hour away from the new address. So I put the truck in drive and we head off down back roads and thru small town over to our new place.

   So here it is 5 p.m. and we finally pull into the drive way of out new home. I quickly get the car and tow dollie out of the way and back the truck up to the pourch so we can start to unload it. About half way thru unloading the truck nikki starts getting up set becouse i am asking her to help unload so we can get the truck back on time so I dont get charged another day. After a short agrument she agrees and we finish unloading the truck and get it swept out. I go and move the truck away from the house and get the dollie and car back on it so I can go drop them off so we can unpack.
