Climbing out of the car, I stared at the massive house in front of me.  Hot pink.  The whole house was HOT PINK!  Clair had picked me up from the airport.  My mom had decided that I should stay with her family for a while.  Some crap about getting me "back on the right track".

"It's a little 'out there', isn't it?" Clair asked (well, more like stated).

"Yeah," I replied.

"My daughters decided to paint the house last summer after-"

"MOM!" A red haired girl appeared on the steps to the porch in a bit of a state.  "Lacy took my lipstick again and Maya burnt the couch with the curling iron and-" the girl looked up and noticed me for the first time "...Well hello there," she purred trying to be sexy...quite frankly, it didn't work.  Don't get me wrong, she was smoking hot but just...not my type.

"April Moore! behave!" Clair scolded. "Don't tell on your sisters - you let Maya use the curling iron?! She's only 7!"

I was listening to this conversation getting more amused and scared at the same time.

"So how many kids do you have, Clair?" I asked, after Clair herded the red headed girl and myself into the house.

"Oh did I forget to mention? I have twelve girls," she sighed.  "It's much harder than you would think..."

"Oh," I squeaked. "I mean- Oh," I said in a deeper, more manly voice.  This is gonna be one hell of a three months.

Clair brought me through a series of confusing hallways until we reached my room. It was painted grey and had a double size bed with a striped blue black and grey duvet.  On the wall opposite to the bed, was a white bookshelf with a row of novels.  There was a black set of drawers next to it and a black desk with a lamp on the last wall.

"Clair, this is amazing," I breathed.

"It's the least we could do.  You can decorate it however you want, obviously.  Leave your bags and I'll introduce you to my girls," Clair said as she eyed my dismal amount of luggage.  I had only packed my necessities, knowing I would get out of this place soon.  I set my duffel bag and guitar down on the bed.

We walked back to the living room where a bunch of girls were already waiting.

"Sit down Noah," Clair said as she fell onto an armchair.  "This is April, she's 19 as you already know-" she said pointing to the girl from outside, she was sitting next to a stuck up looking blond, which Clair pointed at next.  "This is Tamera, who is 18 and will be graduating in 3 months!" Clair squealed. "And how about the rest of you introduce yourselves while I go make some lunch."  Clair got up, walked out of the room and into the kitchen.

"Hey, I'm Lacy and this is Charlie," said a girl to my right as she pointed next to her at another girl.  The girl had deep black hair that fell over her shoulders and ended at her waist.  She had blue eyes that stood out against her hair and was sending me a very cold look.  She didn't say a word.

The girl to my right, Lacy, rolled her eyes at Charlie before moving onto the next girl.

"That's Juli, she's Charlie's twin," Lacy told me as she pointed at a girl that walked in the room holding the same expression that her twin had moments before.  She sent me a long, hard glare before taking a seat next to her twin.

"To be honest," Lacy whispered into my ear, "I think they're both mental."

I nodded my head in response.  I can see why, there is no way I will survive this three months.  A load of moody, teenage girls is the last thing I need.

"And this is Maya and Emily, who are practically inseparable!" Lacy exclaimed while gesturing to the two small girls that were smiling away on the couch in front of them.  The older one had blond hair that was tied in a ponytail, and the younger one had light brown hair that looked half curled and half straight...huh.

"I'm Becci," one girl piped in.  She looked about 11 or 12, she had shortly cut, curly red hair.  "And I love scary movies.  Do you like scary movies, Noah?"

"Um, I guess so," I shrugged.  Her face lit up.

"Have you seen the After Dark films?  Personally I think that the quality and scare-factor is REALLY poor.  What about Silence of the Lambs?  Alien?" Becci pelted me with questions.  "The Exorcist is my favorite.  It scared the crap our of Lacy!  She couldn't sleep for days!!"

Lacy smiled sheepishly, her faced turned slightly red.  "Maybe you should give Noah a chance to warm up, and settle in, Bec," she suggested to the movie-obsessed 11 year old.

I quite liked Lacy.  She was nice.

"Scarlett is sort of...emo.  She is a nice person though.  Just...shy.  She'll be good, and treat you well.  She really looks out for everyone, but she might scare you.  She's upstairs, you can meet her at lunch," Lacy explained.

I smiled.

"This is Ava," Lacy nodded towards a girl with blond dreadlocks with some bright blue and orange pieces.  She had a septum piercing and a tattoo under her left ear.

"Hey," she nodded and smiled at me.  She seemed alright too.

"I'm not sure where Nirvana is..." Lacy trailed off.

"She said that she had a gig with her boyfriend," Ava explained.

Lacy shuddered.  "I don't want to know what kind of gig that was..."

I laughed.  They all looked at me as if I was a freak.

"He's not a robot!" Juli exclaimed.

Wow...this sure is one weird place...

Charlie was sending me the evil eye all lunch.  I wasn't sure what I did to her.  But she's been hating me since I arrived.  I sort of understood though.  We were all going through a new change.  But I didn't intend to be there any longer... but Clair seems like she's been trying so hard to make sure I'm comfortable.  Maybe I'll give it a week or two...but no longer.
