I stept aboard a derelict to what it may contain,

The cabins were all looted and the crew were all slain,

The masts were all poorly, and some were ripped in twain,

But the bonnie flag was a flyin' when ere naught else remained.

The colours they had dim'd after oft a time been flown,

But the colours thereof were o'er the world well known,

And the colours they enchanted me, yes to my heart they've grown,

Even after long gone decades when this old flag was sewn.
