I skipped down the stone steps to the large metal door which kept my Lavender inside the bunker. As I was digging through my jean pocket I heard...crying... Why is Lavender crying? She should be thrilled today is our one year anniversary. I can't believe it's been a whole year since I rescued her from the outside world, it feels like just yesterday I brought her here. Of course she wasn't very happy about the bunker for the first few months or so. She would only ever beg me to let her go and she was constantly trying to escape. Honestly it was a bit ungrateful of her but after awhile she gave up and just stop talking completely. And eating. And sleeping. Finally though I feel like things are getting better, but then why is she crying. It's just tears joy, I'm sure of that. I mean I know Lavendar better than I anyone else in the whole world. I walked into the room and admittedly the crying stopped, however Lavendar wasn't pretending to be asleep like she usually does. Instead today she was sitting on the bed facing the wall, still as a statue. I cleared my throat. No response. Slowly I made my way over to the bed and plopped down next to her. She turned and looked at me with a look of pure hatred . Her cheeks were red and swollen from crying and her hair was a mess. She was covered in dirt and was as thin as a twig. God I wish she would start eating more. It makes me feel like I'm not taking good care of her when she is in such a condition. "Oh my sweet Lavender I missed you so much." I leaned in to hug her, but she shrugged me off and sprung off the bed. She whipped around and our eyes met. "I HATE YOU! WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT!?" she spat at me. Her words stung and rage filled my body and I had they urge to make her pay for treating me in such a way. But then she crumpled into a ball on the floor sobbing and shaking with every breath, holding her face in her frail hands, and that feeling faded away. I tentatively got up from the bed and the springs gave a low creak. I slumped down next her and wrapped my arms around her shaking shoulders. She flinched at first, but she didn't get up. I began to shoosh her pressing my lips against her ear whispering softly "It's a shame you feel that way, but no matter what you say I still know we are soulmates." Softly I tilted her chin up with my knuckle. Our eyes met and I was swallowed by then, I felt myself falling deeper and deeper into my lovely Lavender soul. "It's just so hard. Why don't you understand? This is for you. I'm saving you. No one out there cares about you like I do. They all have alternative motivations, but not me I love you so much that I'm willing to sacrifice everything for you." I reached out to her face.I traced the outline of her features with my fingertips. Her skin so smooth you would never believe she was a high school girl. Her lips so perfect, pale pink like a springtime rose. And her eyes. Oh... her eyes. I could stare into them for hours and just get lost. That's why I hated it so much when she pretended to be asleep. I couldn't see her lovely eyes. She sniffled and softly whispered " I... I... just miss my sister so damn much. And my whole family... they must think I'm dead." My heart throbbed, because they truth was everyone did think Lavender Jones was dead. About five months ago another girl about our age died in a horrific accident. Her body was so mutilated that the police just assumed it was Lavender. Her family didn't even have to identify the body because it was that deformed. About a week later the school held a memorial and all the f-boys and fake girls pretended to be sad, crying and leaving notes in her locker, but I know that I'm the only one that would actually be devastated if Lavendar died. After an hour or so of just holding her I got up and shuffled to the door. I unlocked the door with a loud click and began to walk outside. Before I left I turned and our eyes met. This time however they weren't filled with fear or hatred instead they looked disappointed. My heart fluttered and and a small grin parted my lips, and with that I turned a little more hopeful knowing that what I was doing was working.

The next day I returned around the same time as usual and I was surprised when upon arrival Lavender rushed into my arms. She pulled me into a warm hug and gazed at me with adoration. Slowly I fell into her eyes and our lips met forming a sweet kiss. After that my whole world turned upside down. Lavender always seemed happy to see me and we would talk for hours. She began to eat more and clean up. She even said I love you once. One day we were cuddling on the bed watching a movie when she turned to me and with a truly sorrowful expression asked me " Do you trust me?" I was puzzled at first but the her eyes swallowed me and I said " I trust you."

"Will you let me see the stars?"

Anything for you my love."
