The next few day went by so fast. I felt as if I were on a tilt a whirl of time it was going so fast and I felt as if I were about to throw up. I got up that morning feeling nervous and kinda scared.
I called a cab, "192 6th street."
"Ok Hon," The cab driver had the voice of a smoker and the car reeked of used nicotine. It was uncomfortable but whatever.
We arrived to the building. It was a huge silver skyscraper it had too many windows to count and seemed to go up for miles. I walk in the building go to the elevator and was directed to go to the thirteenth floor. I pushed the button and went up to the thirteenth floor.
"Wellcome Ms. Kelly to the company," I was greeted at the elevador by Rodrick. He was overjoyed to see me, it was weird.
"Thanks, but can you just call me Carmine?" I asked
"Sure sure sure, was your trip here good?" he asked.
"Yeah it was fine, I took a cab" I answered.
"Oh that's terrible, we will hire a personal driver for you as soon as possible."
"What, I don't need that."
"It's fine, we were going to hire one anyways for business purposes but it can pick you up from your house as well."
"I don't think that is necessary."
"Of course it is, you shall be treated like a queen here, you are the boss, anything goes. Oh I forgot about your office, follow me," I followed him into a brightly lit hallway. We walked into a spacious office space, it was beautiful. The walls were an off white pearly color. It was decorated with perfection. There was a big odd shaped desk in the back of the office that was organized very well, it looked like something in a dream that never comes true. Then he said five words that shocked me so much that I could've fallen down and hit my head on the ground, "Carmine, this is your office."
I couldn't believe it, I was taken back by the surplus of emotions rapidly flying at me. I was speechless. Nothing, absolutely nothing was better. "Wow," I said.
"You have your first meeting at 12:30, you can hang out in here until then." a guy who was walking in the hallway at a fast pace walked by the office and Rodrick called for him then grabbed his arm "If you would like we have an intern, Kenny, who can go and get you coffee, a pastry, or whatever you want." He said. Kenny left.
"Ok."
"I am going to go now, I will see you at the meeting. Oh and there is a catalog on the desk, pick out what you want"
"Ok, bye" He left my office. I started walking around and dragging my fingers on the walls. I went over to the desk and logged into the new laptop sitting in the center of the desk. The first thing I did was pick out a picture for my screen saver. I uploaded a picture from my phone of my family. It was when my mother, my father, and me all went to the grand canyon. It was the first family trip we went on and one of my best memories of my mother. I saved the picture and then browsed around the internet and looked at the catalog. The office was beautiful but there wasn't any seating I picked out a sofa and a coffee table.
It came to be around 12:30 and had to go to that meeting. I didn't know where the the conference room was so I asked Kenny who was in the hallway, "Hey, Kenny right, where's the conference room?"
"A or B, probably B it's down that hall and then a le... you know what why don't I just come with," Kenny said.
"Only if its not if it's not going to get in the way of your day."
"It's fine," he started walking into the hallway and I followed, "So how has your first day been."
"It's been fine, I bought a sofa for my office but, that's all I've really done," I said.
