Not everything is easy. In fact, there's not a single thing in the world that's easy for everyone. And this is because life is tough, nothing can change that.
I'm currently in my room, waiting for my mom's scream, or for something to break. I can't go out of my room for fear of not getting accepted. I watch my clock's tick-tock motion, each tock ticking away my confidence.
I've worked hard my whole life to get in this college, all my studies and credits have been put into it. I don't know what I'll do if I don't get accepted. Of course I applied to other colleges in case I don't get accepted, but none of them I was ever really interested in.
I feel really sticky and gross from all the sweating I've been doing. I decide to take a shower to clean up.
I walk into the bathroom and strip before sliding into the shower. The warm water slides sleekly down my body, washing all my thoughts away for a little bit.
Once I'm all washed and clean, I dry myself off then wrap the towel around my body. I put my sweaty clothes in the hamper, then walk out to my closet. I pick out an adidas shirt, some ripped jean shorts, a couple bracelets, some sunglasses, and finally some matching adidas shoes. I dry and straighten my waist length blonde hair before pulling it into a high ponytail.
When I walk down stairs, it's surprisingly quiet. If you know my family, that's strange. Something's definitely going on. I cautiously walk into the kitchen, noticing something on the fridge. Unclipping it, I hasten to unfold it, finding that it's the letter I've been waiting for. This is the big moment.
I scan through it till I see what I've been put through all this misery for.
It is our honor to announce that you, Madeleine Grey, have been accepted into Texas A&M Universiy.
My jaw literally drops to the floor, and no later do my mother and twin brother come running out from behind the counter with my German/Australian Shepherd mix, Sady.
My mom quickly hugs me, Tony after her. Sady jumps up on my legs with her tongue sticking out from the excitement, though she clearly had no idea what's going on.
It's not longer after that my mom brings me into another bone crushing embrace. "I'm so proud of my little grown up girl!" She whispers into my ear.
"I know mom, now could you please let go of me before I'm crushed?" I ask, though I'm not able to wipe the ear to ear grin off my face. She lets go, though still holding onto my shoulders.
"Why don't you go tell Kelly?" Kelly's my older sister who attends Washington State University, studying to be a veterinarian. I barely see her since she's across the country.
"Oh yeah!" I quickly rush upstairs, grabbing my phone and dialing her number.
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
Hi, you have reached Kelly Grey. I cannot pick up the phone right now, so please leave a message and I'll call you back. Thank you!
Beep!
She didn't pick up! I hasten to text her I got in, before my mom calls me downstairs.
"Hey, this package came for you. Do you know what it is?" She asks, pointing over to huge box.
"Ummm, I didn't order anything, no," I walk over to the box, inspecting it. It looks normal, except for the fact that it's almost as tall as me.
I walk around to the other side and see that it's a gift for getting into college. But how'd someone know if I just figured it out? How long has my family known? Have they been keeping it from me this entire time? More and more questions begin popping into my head, but I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I hear a great, "SURPRISE!"
I scream, jumping back and landing on my butt. The box is opened and standing in it is the one and only Kelly Grey, my sister.
"Oh my god Kelly!" I yell through my threatening tears. I rush to hug her, and she hugs me back just as tight. "How long have y'all known that I got accepted?" I ask, the questions from earlier coming back.
"Just a few days, I arrived here this morning and have been in the guest room. We wanted it to be a big surprise for you, cause we all know how much that college means to you." Kelly answers, pulling out of our embrace.
"And you get to pick out where we're going to dinner to celebrate!" My mom adds.
"Oh, I know exactly where....." I trail off to leave suspense like I'm in a crime movie or something, but just fail completely. "Drumroll please," I say in my announcer voice while hitting two pencils on the table. Yup, that's how sad I am,"The Cheesecake Factory!"
"I figured that much," Tony mutters, not pleased. I don't know what his problem is with that place, they have great food. He always tries to find a way around going, but he knows he's not getting out of this one. Then his face suddenly lights up. "You know..... I kinda was gonna go out with my friends tonight-and uh..... yeah. So I gotta go!" With that he rushes out the door, not looking back.
Jokes on him, I have his car keys.

Dinner. Was. Amazing. It tasted like heaven on a silver platter. Me and Kelly caught up on all that we missed, while eating our lives out. For dessert I picked out a raspberry cream cheesecake. We all had a great time.
We head home after paying,(we brought Tony's car to mess with him since I had his keys) and I immediately collapse on my bed. I'm full and tired.
I change into my pjs, then climb into bed, falling asleep almost instantly.
(Tony was waiting on the doorstep when we got home).
