My feet padded softly against the mush forest ground, a quiver full of arrows was strung over my shoulder and my bow was at the ready.

My long elf-like ears twitched.

"There is a river." I breathed out to myself, turning my head to find the source of the noise.

It was coming from my left. Cautiously I tiptoed down the track, occasionally stopping to see if I was being followed.

Eventually I crawled out of the forest growth, approaching a flowing river. Setting my bow down I leaned over, drinking and sustaining my thirst. There were trees and plants around of all different kinds, sunlight streamed through the leaves of a medium sized tree above me, making the water reflect the surroundings. I could see little fishes swimming around here and there, some were the colour of fire, others may have been a dull brown or a Lilly White.

My reflection shone back at me, I was a girl.

My name was Sapphire, which I was named from my hair and eyes. Which were a bright electric blue. My hair was long and strode freely down my back, glowing slightly with a faint light. The light that kept me alive, and will keep me alive for many years to come.

Maybe I should start from the beginning:

My name is Sapphire, I am a Hunter and a dragon protector. From my warrior skills I have been nicknamed The Huntress Of Eternal Night.

Currently for the last hundred years, the dragons have started going missing. As a dainty spy, I was separated from my group and sent to find a dragon that was last sighted in the east. Everyone else went in other directions where a group of dragons were last seen.

So far I was isolated and independent, I could talk to animals and trees, seeking guidance. Every now and then I'd come to a city, seeking refuge or buying supplies.

The Dragon Hunters have been constantly on my trail, especially these past few days. No matter how many times I double back, they always seem to find me.

I wore a classic hunters armour, an enchanted dress that was an extremely light violet, lined by patterns of blue, slightly darker then my hair. A matching bow was strung at the back of my hair, with diamond patterns coloured on with a water drop in he middle.

The water drop was my special power. I was tied to water and moonlight, making my senses sharper and clearer and my powers stronger.

On the full moon I was practically invincible.

Water: if a child could control water that would mean we are dainty, natural trackers and fighters. People born with water powers were extremely rare and powerful.

There was also fire: people who were quite proud and direct in their fighting, not thinking of strategies that much.

Earth: big, burly and strong. Very very strong and helpful, good architectures and craftsman. Especially in the forges.

Plants: some could control and grow plants, even though it seems weak, you really don't want to be on the receiving end of a moving rose bush. These people were very good and gathering plants, using them for medication or food. Very nice and polite, but could also snap your neck in half if you accidentally stepped on a rose.

Those were the main ones, I wasn't quite sure if there see people with other powers. I was sent away from my group 3 years ago, closing in on he trail of the dragon, to my relief.

I stared into the water from a few more minutes, accidentally falling into a trance and losing myself in thoughts. Memories, to be exact.

How my mother use to cradle me, how my friends cried when I left, unsure if I'd ever return.

The water swirled around my hands, foaming slightly around my thumbs. I lifted my hand up, including a little sliver of water, for fun, I started swishing it around. Making it grow and then freeze over, casually unfreezing it and giving it to a withering plant.

To the left of the river was a giant tree. I mean all the trees around were pretty big, but I could tell this tree was alive for hundreds, maybe thousands of years.

Making an ice trail through the river, I leaped across, bounding down towards the giant tree, vines growing and constricting around it.

I rested my head against the tree,

Beware. Hunters, they approach. The tree chided.

I know. They have been rather persistent these past days. Especially now I'm 16 and my powers are growing. Awakening. I replied, although hiding my flicker of doubt.

No, I see what shall happen. Run while you still have the chance.
