"Ok so if we hold auditions on February 16 then that should give us enough time to make a group and rehearse right?" I ask writing down the information. so far we have decided on making or team 8 girls including us and that auditions will be held after school at 2:45 in the music room.
"Yea that sounds good but what if we don't find good singers or if nobody auditions" asks Jasmine. I bite my nails. Thats partially what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of no one SHOWING up because I'm head coach.
"Yea about that Jaz maybe you should be head coach for the team and I could help out or somethi-"
"Oh no you need to gain self confidence. You are the head coach and that is that."
"...fine. Wait what song are we going to have them sing?"
"I was just thinking that. Maybe "people like us" or "rumor has it"?"
"no we need one that everybody will know." I said
"Ok" she smirked "how about "don't stop believing" by journey?"
"JAZ THAT'S PERFECT!!! I'll print out the flyers now! I got to go, we'll talk tomorrow"
"Ok see you later bye!" the screen went black.
As I'm printing out posters I decide that 16 would be enough. I than walk downstairs to tell my mom what's happening. Well she's not really my mom. Did I mention I'm adopted? no? Well I got adopted at the age of 7 by Karen and Frank Berkley. but I call them mom and dad since I've never had real parents.
"hey mom guess what"I ask
"what's that sweetie?"
"I'm holding auditions for a group to take part in the national A Cappella championships in New York! Schools from over the US are sending their best group to compete!"
"THAT'S GREAT! I'm glad you finally going to do something with that amazing voice of yours!" she says.
I blush feeling the heat in my cheeks radiate throughout my whole body "mom I'm not that good"I say sheepishly
"don't be silly kit of course you are! now of to bed it's almost 10:00!"
"okay mom goodnight" I say before pecking her on the cheek and running up to my bedroom. it took hours but I finally got to sleep dreaming of music and the sound of my voice echoing in my mind.
