9:57 A.M.

It was a horrible hot summer day (more like mid-day). My mom was freaking out because I was only 7 years old and she couldn't find anybody to watch me. Before when my mom had to go to school my dad had watched me, but something happened and mom won't tell me what. I haven't seen him since a week ago. My mom had taken the week off so she can watch me. I believe she stayed home so that I wouldn't find out what had happened to dad.

"Mom, I'll be fine. Just don't stay away to long, please."

She looked at me carefully, as if it would be the last time she saw me.

"Don't worry mom."

"I won't be long sweety."

Then she grabbed her stuff and left.

 4:30 P.M.

It had been about 7 hours and half, and she still hasn't been back. I saw a phone on the counter, so I tried to reach it. When I grabbed it a paper came out from underneath it.

Before I go any further I should tell you that I get distracted early. Anyways I was about to dial the number when the doorbell rang. I don't remember if I should open the door when my mom is gone but I opened it anyways.

"Hello," I said.

"Hello, son. Do you know who I am."

"No. But I think I have an idea."

"Who do you-"

"Are you my dad."

He looked shocked and just nodded.

"Mom told me I shouldn't talk to you. She says you're dangerous."

"Your mom got in an accident. She's not with us anymore."

My eyes stung. What was this feeling. Should I believe him. There's so much going through my head I can't think straight. I sat on the ground and my eyes started tearing.

"Come on, I'll take-"

"NO! I'm not going anywhere with you. How am I suppose to believe you if you haven't came back in like a week?! You even look different."

"Get up now!"

He went to go grab me but I slapped his hand away and ran upstairs to hide.

5:00 P.M.

It had been a half an hour and he still hasn't found me. Did he leave? Did he give up on searching for me? Then I heard a loud BANG! I jumped a little. What was that? That sounded like a gun shot but what would he be shooting at.

I looked around in my hiding spot and found a bat. Why did my mom have a bat? Did she know my  hiding spot, so that if anything like this happened I would have something to protect myself with.

"Come on Jackson. You can't hide forever. I will make you something to eat and get you something to drink. Just come out first."

I just realized I was actually really hungry. I wasn't thirsty much but I was really hungry. Should I try and sneak out and get something to eat then try and get back or should I just stay? I was going to try and sneak out but something started vibrating in my pocket. What was it? No thinking now I reached in my pocket and found nothing. Then I sat up and saw there was a cell phone underneath me. The name read:

"Mother"

It was my mom. I thought the guy said that she had gotten in an accident and had- it hurt my head thinking about what would happen if she actually did.

I declined the call and texted her instead. It was hard to text her because I'm only 7 and I don't know how to spell many words.

"Mommy, I need help."

"What is it dear? Is everything OK? Do I need to call the police."

"Yes you-"

I was cut off when the guy said something. But I didn't hear much of what he said. The only thing that I heard him say was:

"Don't call the police... It would be the last thing you ever did."

How did he know that I was gonna call the police. How does he even know I have a phone on me.

A few minutes have passed. It was starting to get hot in here. What am I going to do? I'm going to starve to death before I even get close to getting out of here. OH MY GOD! I have a phone I can text my mom. But what am I going to tell her. I'll think about it when I'm texting her.

"Mommy how far are you from the home."

"Not to far about 5 minutes. What's wrong."

"There was a guy that broke in here. Well I let him in, but now I'm in my hiding spot."

"Sweety."

"Yes mother."

"Where is your hiding spot."

What she knows where it is. That's why she put all the stuff in here that I would need in case something like this would happen. Before I thought any further I told her.

"Remember it's in your closet attic."

"Thankyou now I know where you are. Little twerp."

It wasn't mommy. Is that what that gun shot was. Did the guy shoot my mother?
