"Wake up Miranda! Your phone keeps beeping." I grumble and roll over to look at my phone. Six new messages. I freak out thinking it was my parents trying to get ahold of me, but when I unlock my phone it proves me wrong. Joshua. He called me six times? I don't have any texts from him, but I find one voice mail. I walk into the bathroom to listen.
~Hey Miranda, I was wondering why you texted me. How did you get my number?~ What?
~Um so I guess you're asleep, just text me later or something.~ The message was very fuzzy and I could hardly figure out what he was saying. Why was he so confused that I texted him? He did it first. I try to ignore it and walk back to my sleepy friends.
"Why was your phone going off, who called you?"
"Just my mom." I hate lying, but I don't want to tell them. They will make fun of me if they find out he called wondering why I texted him. Both of them shrug it off and my stomach growls.
"Yeah, so how about some food?"
"Works for me!" We slip on some shoes and head to anyplace with pancakes. I wonder if Joshua will be at the beach today. He's always there, I want to go. As if reading my mind Chelsea suggests that we hit the ocean after.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Erica looks down and walks ahead of us. Why would she not want to go to the beach?
"Why not? We both really want to go." Chelsea speaks my thoughts again.
"I just don't feel like it." What's her problem.
"We always go to the beach, I just think you need to hang out with your friends, not boys." There it is.
"What? I'm always with you, we both are! I'm never with boys either. This is about Joshua isn't it? Well maybe I like him and you should be happy that he talks to me!" I can't believe she isn't supporting me.
"He doesn't like you."
"What?" I already knew this, but why is my best friend saying it. I'm so confused.
"Just forget it okay? I'm starving." I give her a long look. When I turn to Chelsea she is already starting to walk to Erica. I did down deep and take a step forward to walk with my best friends to get some food. This is going to be a long day.
