Chapter Twenty

Ray -

"Jr, please hang up the phone."

"Yeah babe, don't do this."

"Babe?"

"Shit!" I cursed. I have been so caught up in this whole cheating mess that I forgot no one knew about me and Craig.

"You two are together?" Mrs Wanda asked. "Yeah..." I said hesitating.

"Since when!?"

"The party, we kinda kissed and stuff." Jr exclaimed.

"And when were you planning on telling me?"

"Well Ray isn't out yet, so I couldn't really tell you anything without his permission."

"Yeah, I was going to come out today, but then I ran into you and my dad."

"Hello? Hello? Cj?" We heard a deep voice coming from the phone. "You didn't hang up!?"

"Oops, well I guess this is the perfect time to tell him." Mrs Wanda looked down, she frowned and you could tell she didn't want to confess.

She probably really loved Mr Craig, I don't understand why'd she choose my dad, but what ever happened that night when it all started is the grown ups business.

She stepped forward and Jr handed her the phone. She slowly brought it to her ear and stuttered, trying to get the words out.

"He-hey honey." She started off.

"How's your trip been?"

"Come on mom, stop stalling." I snapped.

"That's nice, Craig, but I have something important to tell you. First off, I love you with all my heart and I'm stupid for what I did." She took a deep breath and let it all out. "I cheated on you with the preacher."

"Come on Ray, let's go for a walk." As we left the room, we heard screaming and crying from both ends. Jr's dad had a lot to say.

We walked down the street in silence. Everything that came to mind as a conversation just seem to awkward to bring up. I wonder what's going through his head right now. I have to find out if he's really okay.

"Jr.." I started. "I'm so stupid!" He cried, covering his face. "No, no, you're not, you did the right thing!"

I grabbed him and pulled him into a hug. "I know it's hard losing a parent, but come on, your dad was bound to find out."

"Yeah, I just wish I didn't get myself into it, why did I even call him?"

"Babe, look, it will be okay, don't stress over it, just be happy your mom knows about us now." I said, trying to cheer him up. "I'll be here for you, no more hiding who I am."

"Are you going to tell your dad!?" He uncovered his face and looked at me. "Yeah, I don't want to hide my love anymore." He smiled and we lean into a kiss.

A week later

Craig's dad stormed out the house with suitcases filled with the rest of his clothes. Wanda was standing in the yard, watching her soon to be ex husband move out.

"Craig, please." She wept. "Out of all the people who you decided to cheat on me with, it's the reverend! The one person who disrespects your son for something that isn't his choice!" He roared heatedly.

"Honey, we can work this out, please don't leave." She begged.

Ray and his dad watch the chaos from the window inside. The rev began to get worried, he knew that Wanda and his secret relationship would end. She didn't love him the way she loved Craig.
