"Hey!" he smiled. "You ready for today?"
"Absolutely...Not." I winked.
"Oh whatever. You're just scared you're going to lose."
"Pfff. Please. Do you know how many times I've played laser tag and won for that matter? Let's just say I've lost count after 7."
"Sure sure. But don't be disappointed if I break your record." he said with a poke to my side.
"Hey, no. None of that." I smiled for a second and went to total seriousness just to see his reaction. He looked at me confused and slightly shocked.
"Hehe." I giggled and ran out of the house to the car.
"Hey you little stinker, wait for me!" he called running after me.
I hop in the driver's seat and he gets into the passenger's side.
"Shotgun!" he shouts.
"No Jared, you can't sit there. That seat was for my imaginary friend, Fred. Don't be rude!"
Jared turns his head to me and smirks. With that, he rubbed his butt all over the seat bottom.
My mouth dropped to the floor.
"YOU KILLED HIM!!" I say in horror.
"MUAHAHA." He said, holding his hands up in the classic evil pose.
We both go silent staring at the garage door. Like it was in sync, we crack up laughing.
"You're so weird Jare." I smirked, pulling out of the driveway.
"You have imaginary friends and I'm the weird one.. makes total sense." He looked at me to make sure I knew he was just teasing.
Of course I knew he was teasing. He's my best friend, this kind of stuff happens all the time. Although its fun to mess with him by "getting offended" when he does insult me or whatever every once in a while.
We finally make it there after about 30 minutes of driving and he gets out of the car before I can even unbuckle. As I reach for the handle, the door opens and I look up.
"For a second there I thought I had mind control and opened it with the force!" I smiled as he laughed.
"May the force be with you." he winked.
We walked in and got some pizza at the pizza bar. As usual we switch off on who buys on the dates. I went to pull out my wallet but he had already handed the lady the money.
"I got it." he smiled.
I gave him a confusing look. Why was he acting like this..?
After we got our food and found a table, we sat down and talked for a little bit.
"Alright, you sure you're ready for this?"
"Pff, I was born ready." he said.
We walked over to the counter and asked for two tickets for laser tag.
"Okay, here you go! Good luck!" the old man smiled.
"Yeah, you'll need it.." I nudged Jared. He glared at me with a hint of
determination in his eyes.
As we got to the place, I handed a younger man our tickets.
"Have you both played before?"
"Yes." We said in unison. I looked over at him with an eyebrow raised. He winked with his face still turned to the man.
"Alright then. Right this way."
