I had set an alarm for myself on my mobile so I would be awake and out of the house before my mother woke up.

I arrived surprisingly on time for the first time and thankfully didn't have to be greeted by Ms. Dronfield. I felt a little bit of disappointment when Ashton wasn't standing leaning against my locker but I pushed it away guessing that he just assumed that I would he late again.

I walked to my locker but I had to stand back as other students were digging through their own lockers to find their books for the morning. I found my eyes kept scanning the busy hallway hoping to see Ashton's floppy hair bouncing on his head as he walked towards me with a grin on his face but my view was blocked by a girl who was a lot taller than me but that wasn't really saying much, her short black hair stuck out in many places making me think she'd cut it herself. The girl scanner me up and down with her grey eye's her nose crinkled slightly "You're Clara Jax right?" She asked letting her eyes rest on my face I cleared my throat before answering "Uh yeah that's me" I felt slightly intimidated by her height over me a smirk fell on her lips "Jees when Jessica said you were a little tramp, she was so right" The girl said bitterly I rolled my eyes at the mention of Jessica "Watch yourself, just because Jessica isn't here anymore doesn't mean you're in the clear. I'll keep my eye on you, Jax" She said shoving me with her shoulder as she walked past me I sighed deeply and finally went to get my books.

The last time I was here Jessica was the personification of my nightmare. She somehow broke into the personal files and found out what I'd hoped on keeping a secret. I'd spun out the same bullshit story to anyone that asked me why I was in here that I went on a downward spiral after the breakdown of my parents 'relationship' but that wasn't even half of the real story.

Ashton was the first and only person I'd told my story to, he didn't judge me or look at me differently after finding out he just gave me a tight hug and a reassuring smile but Jessica told everyone and from that day Ashton became my only friend because the others turned against me once they heard.

Lunch came slowly and I still hasn't seen Ashton I was beginning to get anxious. I waited at our usual table instead of getting a lunch because I wanted to wait for Ashton. Someone dragged the seat beside me across the floor and I looked up to find not Ashton but Mark "Hey" He greeted me with a smile which I returned "Hey, where's Ashton?" I couldn't help myself from asking about him "I'm not sure, he was still asleep when I got up and I didn't bother waking him so he might still be there" He said shrugging his shoulders casually "Why didn't you wake him up? He could get into trouble now" I scolded him "Nah he doesn't, he does this all the time he'll pull out the illness card again" He said rolling his eyes "Has he told you yet?" I asked he shook his head looking a little hurt "I've been rooming with him for 4 months and he won't tell me" He said looking down at his food and pushing it around the plate "He will, like I said its his personal shit. He'll tell you in his own time, Ashton just takes time to open up" I told him smiling at him he nodded

Just as I finished speaking I saw Ashton walking towards us with two plates in his hands "Still too lazy to get your own lunch then I see" He said with a goofy grin as he put one of the plates in front of me "I know you love being my personal assistant so I didn't want to take the privilege away from you" I said he but his lip as he laughed shaking his head "It's my favourite part of the day" He said sarcastically I pushed his arm lightly and smiled at him.

"So I heard you've made an enemy already" Ashton said as we walked to class "How did you hear that?" I asked surprised by how quickly news could spread around here "Everyone's talking about it" He said shrugging his shoulders "Great. I just love having everyone talk about me" I remarked sarcastically he chuckled lightly and draped arm over my shoulders "I know you do. A e you okay?" He asked his tone more serious now "Yeah its not like it's the first time. I'll live" "That's all I want" He whispered kissing the top of my head lightly before taking his arm off of me and we walked the rest of the way in silence.
