He looked at me with a air of disgust, which I personally thought was a little bit of an odd response, but then again, who am I to talk? He shook his head and walked away, muttering something about the crazy ones never lasting very long. I knew better than to ask him what he meant, considering the fact that he seemed like someone who would feel offended by anyone who acted against his ideals, and I was pretty sure that I was almost over that line.
Anyway.
People finally started making their way into the clearing. Some looked like they were crying, and others seemed completely dumbfounded by this forest of mirrors, which I guess is understandable. I tried to look at their faces, but I could only see some obvious features, like hair color and such. Someone looked like they had wolf ears, but I couldn't really tell. Before I could double check, a shrill whistle pierced the air, making me cover my ears and look for its source, extremely annoyed. It had come from the top of the massive dome in the center of the clearing. Specifically, it came from that man that I had spoke to earlier. I glared at him, but he didn't even notice. He cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Hello Contestants!" What? "I am your host, Blue Sky! It is my honor to welcome you to Mirror Trial, the show that has entertained Eternals for eternity!" WhAt? "Although, some might call it," his voice lowered to an amused growl, "your execution." WHAT?
I glare at him with enough intensity to burn a hole through his head. How dare he say that I could be killed as easily as these idiots. I grabbed onto the sides of my podium to keep myself from trying to kill him. HOW. DARE. HE.
He ignored me and continued his little "welcoming".
"I'm sure you are all confused and want to go home. But, I'm afraid that's not how this is going to work. If you want to leave here alive," he smirked, "you'll have to kill everyone else in this trial." Everyone began to look around, eyes wide with fear. I was still trying to keep myself from killing him, so I didn't really internalize what he said until a few moments later. "Well, I wish you all luck. You're going to need it." he laughed. Remember, this is the same guy that looked at me like I was crazy, which I am, when I laughed. Honestly, make up your mind.
"Let the trial begin!"
As soon as those words slipped off his tongue, he vanished, which was awfully rude of him in my opinion. We didn't even get a chance to kill him!
After his "dramatic" exit, almost all of the other contestants ran away from the clearing, some screaming, others simply with looks of pure terror. The few of us that decided to stay began to investigate the dome in the center. I quickly found a secret door and quietly slipped in, closing it quickly. I immediately was met with piles of weapons, food, water bottles, and backpacks. Jackpot. I sorted through the supplies, grabbing a silver backpack, at least five knives, and as much food and water as humanly, or whatever I was, possible. I grabbed the bag and left the room as quickly as I had come in. I held a knife in my hand and smiled. This is going to be all too easy.
"Hey! I think I found something, come here!" I called out, hoping that someone was still here. My hopes were confirmed. A girl came from the other side of the dome, her blue hair moving in the wind and getting tangled up in her golden horns.
"What did you find?" I smiled and turned to face her, insane smile never leaving my face. I grabbed her shirt and pressed my knife against her throat, slitting it. I leaned into her ear and whispered my answer to her final words.
"A victim"
