I opened my eyes to find rows and rows of people seated. They all faced one direction as if they were listening to a single person talk.

I frantically looked around and analyzed my surroundings. It looked as if everybody was wearing black. Not just casual black outfits but black dresses, black suits, black blouses. This wasn't very normal for the sort of people in this town. I stood at the end of the center isle separating two huge rows of seats. On each side of me I saw a couple pairs of doors leading to whatever was outside this bizarrely large room. I squinted my eyes and glanced directly in front of me.

I saw the back of a man leaning on some sort of table. The man was wearing a expected black suit with matching black pants and shoes.

Breaking my statue form, I creeped up taking slow, small steps. It seemed like an eternity before I finally reached the mysterious man.

I side stepped to my right and looked over the man's shoulder to see who he was.

My heart skipped a beat as I realized it was Connor.

I jumped as Connor began to say something, as if to himself,
"I promise I'll never let you go again, okay? I was so naive to not see that you were hurting. And to think I was so angry for hanging out with my own sister. I was so jealous for no reason. "

That's when his voice broke and tears started to roll.

"Just come back okay? Please come bac-"

A sniff.

He turned his head and nodded as he noticed his mother, who I just momentarily noticed, while she nudged him back to their previous seating arrangement.

I froze to see what she would say seeing me here but, she looked through me as if I was a wisp in the wind.

I turned my attention back to the table Connor was so focused on and yelped.

The table isn't really a table at all. It's a coffin. And I'm in the coffin.

I spun around as my heart started to race and I noticed the gathering of people in the room. Everything seemed so real.

I'm at my own funeral.

I held my arms out as if I was in a movie seen and let out a small scream.

***

"Doctor!"

I flailed around as I continued my scream and glued my eyes closed. I felt a pair of arms forcing my own arms down. Fighting to cheat death, I kicked and screamed as much as I could to escape the grips of Hell.

"Sofie it's okay!"

The three words instantly stopped me. I felt several pairs of arms apply more pressure as they regained power over my still body.

My instantly knew the slick voice of who had said those powerful words. The same person who offered a ride to school, gave me the chance to go camping with him, and was pissed at me for talking to his sister.

The one and only Connor Franta.

I opened my eyes to see the owners to the arms and Connor in the doorway of the hospital cell. He stood as still as a statue, staring at me straight in the eyes.

"Let me go."

Every owner of each arm looked at me with astonishment as a woman, who looked like the doctor, had the audacity to counter my statement.

"Not until we know you're stable."

"I'm stable."

Connor remained still.

The doctor replied, signaling Connor,

"Clear the room. Except for the boy."

The group of nurses seem to run out of the room as it they were being chased. I told the doctor,

"Thanks."

Connor crept up to the bed the same way I crept up to my own coffin. It made me shiver.

"So honey," The doctor began as she talked to Connor, "It looked like you triggered Sofie here's brain to wake her up. Any idea why?" She looked at both of us inferring that we both knew the question was to both of us.

"No ma'am."

After a while of looking at the both of us, she began to play with some of the equipment next to the bed.

"Well anyway," she continued, "I'm going to have to break some news to you. I'm not known to be soft and sweet so do you want me to tell you now or invite in your mom?"

Astonished, I gaped at what she just said. For gods sake I just came out of being passed out.

"Uhh, is it really that bad?"

Connor stood awkwardly at the bottom of my bed not daring to throw in his opinion.

"It's pretty bad." The blunt doctor said without a care.

"You have no heart. What's wrong with me?"

As she rolled off the insult, she sighed.

"Alright well, I hate to tell you that you have a minor case of diabetes. Your mother caught you tripping on your own feet. That's a main side effect assuming you lost feeling in your feet. So we tested your blood levels and they were dangerously off balance. I'm sorry. It's nothing that we can't help you with."

Silence.

I wasn't ready to be a baby in front of the cutest boy in school so I managed a mouselike, "What?"

"I don't know what else to tell you."

I buried my face in the stale hospital blanket as I heard small shuffles across the floor.

"I'm so sorry. I'm here." Connor whispered. His gentleness with his hands across my back nearly gave me the shivers. Can't I just forget everything? Why is he even here? He was pissed. I don't want to give up but it's like I have no choice.

What do I do?
