The pop of a cork being pulled from a wine bottle sounded throughout the living room of my family's best friend's house.

"Ok graduates, gather around! And everyone else of course." My mother, Joanne, said as she poured herself a glass of wine and passed it onto the next adult.

The Drugov family have been best friends with my family for as long as I can remember. My mother and Nick's mother, Anjolie, were always together and so were we. So ever since we were little, we've been the best of friends.

Now, graduating from high school and finally being 18, I realised that my feelings for Nick have grown to much more than just best friend status. He was sweet and strong. Kind and stern. He was a teenage girl's wet dream.

So, while Nick, my other best friend Kristy and I are drinking our spiked punch, the grownups passed around the wine and poured themselves a glass.

Once everyone was settled down, my mother and Anjolie went to stand in the middle of the circle, surrounded by our best friends. My dad Jerry, standing with the parents for the night, has chestnut brown hair with little white wisps by his ears. He has a stocky build, standing at 5 foot 11 with bright blue eyes and tanned skin.

My mother, standing to his left, has raven black hair and dark brown eyes, olive skin and petite five-foot four-inch frame. I was an only child. Sometimes it got lonely but other times I was grateful for not having to babysit. Though the extra pocket money would be nice.

Nick's family were all born in Russia but have relatives from America so his parents decided to move to California to be closer with their family. They also wanted to have better career opportunities to give their kids a better life. Their slight accent is always a great conversation starter. And once you get to know them, it's hard not to love them. It also helps that they as a family are extremely good looking. They were definitely on the lucky side of the spectrum.

They moved to a tiny secluded town in California since their dad had gotten a job in the country where he met my dad. They introduced their wives to each other and the rest is history. Ever since then, my family and theirs were tight as can be.

Nick's dad Stephan, standing to my dad's right, had blonde hair and brown eyes with a square jaw, he was about six foot and one inch. His mother Anjolie, standing to Stephan's right, had extremely dark brown hair with harsh, bright green eyes and a pair shaped figure. She may not look like it but she was the sweetest woman ever.

Then there stood Nick at six foot and two inches, brown hair, brown eyes and wide-ish shoulders. He was built but he wasn't overly muscular. His boyish grin was so crush worthy and boy next door type. It was hard not to like him. You really had to try.

My other best friend, Kristy, is five feet and nine inches and had really fair skin and fiery red hair. I was definitely an even mix between my parents. I my dad's bright blue eyes and my mother's raven black hair. I had fair skin; it wasn't deathly pale but I wasn't tan either. I was five foot and six inches and I loved it. It was the perfect height for me. Some people say that I look like my dad and some say I look like my mom. I could never tell so I just smile and act interested.

Back in the center of the room, the four forty something year old's standing in the middle grinned at each other. Anjolie spoke first. "First of all, I would like to congratulate our young graduates. Congratulations Kristy, Rosemarie, and my Nicky for graduating with honours. I know all three of you will have a bright future in whichever career you choose. And as a gift to all three of you -," she said.
