I don't remember my name. I thought you should know, I can't tell you my real name.
I sat in silence listening to the pointless and childish conversations of everyone in my class. I am the youngest in the year, sadly, however I am also the weirdest. I'm always getting teased for my grey hair, but they probably shouldn't have bullied me. I will tell you why.
"Alright class! To your seats!" The teacher grumbled loudly, it was last lesson, soon I would be home. "We have a new student today, he was supposed to join us this morning however he is here now." The class went silent, I saw the snickering faces of the bullies, the hopeful faces of all the girls, the couldn't care less faces of the popular kid and then there was me. The only thirteen year old boy in the class, hoping that the person who walked through the door was weirder than me. I was right. The boy was tall, he looked older than most people in the class. He had black hair and gleaming purple eyes, but that was all normal. The characteristic that stood out about him was his ears, he had two pairs of ears. Normal ones like a human, and then perched on his head hidden in his ruffled hair was a pair of black cat ears.
"Ha, Nekomanda." I heard one of the bullies whisper to his thugs.
A Nekomanda was a human, with the ability to turn into a cat, however they always had cat ears as well as their own.
Nekomanda were allowed to live amongst humans in order to protect them, as long as they stayed out of trouble.
"Hang on class...Mr.Aipatchi is calling from cooking. I'll be back in a minute, it seems one of his students poisoned a cupcake again!" The teacher muttered as she stalked angrily out of the class, leaving us students unsupervised.
"Nekomanda stink!" Someone called from the back of the room, "Yeah! And they have flees!" Another kid called. I rested my head on the desk, school was boring. Even with a 'cat' in the class it has become a normal thing nowadays so I wasn't really bothered. In fact, I was so bored I actually felt like standing up for the poor kid. Turns out, I didn't need too.
"Is that so?" The Nekomanda said lifting his chin. "My name is EL Shini, I was hoping I would get along with you all. Turns out...lights out!" As he muttered the last part the door slammed closed and the lights went out.
We were in the dark, great I thought, I'd never really liked darkness. As the lights switched back on again I noticed EL still standing in the same place, I was still sat at my desk...but the bullies had black eyes and bloody noses. I swore one of them was missing a tooth!
Miss came back into class and EL lied saying the boys had tried to knock each other out. It was a very believable story. As he walked to his seat the Nekomanda gave me a nod, I smiled back sheepishly not knowing really how to react.
<Time skip>
I packed my school bag as the bell rang, the teacher dismissed the class and I was ready to leave. I didn't want to spend one more second in this horrible place, school, more like prison. As I walked out of the building into the playground that lay at the front, I spotted several of the boys from my class crying in floods of tears as they explained to their mothers and fathers what had happened. Using EL's lie of course.
I didn't notice the black cat walking at my feet as I crossed the stoned ground until I found myself nearly trip over it.
"What do you want?!" I snapped at it. Why'd I even talk to it? It's not like it could reply. I continued walking, I was nearly as the wired fence that circled the school grounds.
"What's your name?"
I paused, that was EL's voice! The cat was EL!
"Er," I started, but then I stopped, realising I didn't know. Sad it may seem, not to know your own name, but I didn't. "I don't have a name..."
The black cat stared at me, it looked surprised. In fact I was surprised. The cat was staring back at me with the same purple eyes EL had.
"Very well, I will call you Eight." He muttered cheerfully.
Eight? How'd he get that? That wasn't my name, it was a number. My class seating number!
"Eight for short of course!" The cat meowed as he transformed into his human state.
"Your full name shall be 55288. Your one of my Experiments..."
Experiments, great this guys a geek. He probably spends too much time watching Science Fiction movies.
"I'm no ones Experiment, if I am, then I am my own!" I snapped as I continued out of the gate. This was boring me, I knew the boy was still following me, he was smiling cheerfully, which made him even more annoying. Does he ever give up? I though to myself and what does he want anyway?
I turned the corner, marching down the pathway that led to my house, I lived alone. EL has now turned back into a cat and was stalking along beside me. I sighed realising he wasn't giving up on whatever he wanted.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a chain of silver keys, picking out the one for the front door. I opened the door. I threw my school bag down, slammed the door shut._______
Please let me know if you want me to continue writing this story, thank you
