"Joy, who's Sara?" Esther asked with her usual calm voice.
"What are you talking about?" Joy asked with a fake, confused face.
"I saw your texts with her. Don't act dumb."
"And who gave you the permission to check my texts?"
"Well, you used to let me read and sometimes reply them. Why the sudden change?"
"That was when I asked you to. It didn't gave you the permission to look at my texts without being asked."
"Seriously, Joy? I'm your girlfriend."
"Yes, just my girlfriend. Not my mom." Joy snapped at Eshter.
Eshter was starled with the answer.
After a few long seconds, Esther asked,
"Are you happy with her?"
Silence.
"Because if you are, I'm letting you go. I love you too much that your happines is more important than mine." She continued.
Silence continued.
"You are free now. I really hope you are happy with her." Then she walked away.
*******
Joy had mixed emotions but mostly happy because now he can freely texts Sara without the guilty feelings.
The days went by and even if they're in few classes together, it feels like they never have a relationship. Like they never even knew each other.
Joy never got together with Sara though. After been talking for a few months, he never asked her to go on a date and he didn't know why he never had the feeling to ask her that.
Few months after the break up, Joy realized that he sees less and less of Esther. Not because they're avoiding each other but from what he heard from her friends, Esther always took medical leave.
And that made him worried. He did loved her when they're still together. He really wants to meet and ask her about it but never really had the gut to.
One day he heard that Esther got admitted to the hospital.
He rushed to the hospital and found Esther's mom, crying.
